play dough

Submitted by bitch-face on Wed, 12/13/2006 - 8:36pm.

1. Mix flour, salt and cream of tarter in a medium pot

2. Add water, food coloring and oil

3. Stir over medium heat for 3-5 minutes. Don't worry if the mixture looks like a gloobby mess; it'll turn into dough

4. When the mixture forms a ball in the center of the pot, turn off the stove
and let it cool. Then take it out of the pot and put it on a floured surface. Squish it and punch it around a bit; this is called kneading

5. When you're done, put it in a plastic bag or air tight container and store it in the fridge

Preheat oven to 350. Cream the butter, then gradually add the sugar, beating well. Mix flour and salt together and add to the first mixture, combining thoroughly. Roll the dough with a rolling pin to ¼ “ thick, then cut into desired shape. Put them on ungreased cookie sheets, prick with fork, and bake 20-25 minutes or until lightly browned at the edges.

barbecue tofu

Submitted by Fart O. Zelinsky on Mon, 08/01/2005 - 2:57am.

Directions:
This recipe is fast and easy to prepare. It is good sliced and added to veggies or put on bread for lunches. It is a little spicy, so some kids may not like it.
Preheat the oven to 300. Slice the tofu the long way to make slabs. Cover the bottom of a jelly roll pan with 1/4 inch of sauce. Put the tofu on top. Cover the tofu with sauce. Just make sure the tofu is covered, you don't have to drown it. Put it in the oven and cook for about 2 hours. If you like your tofu very firm, cook longer. Check every now and then to make sure nothing is burning. I've never had a problem with that, but but ovens are all different.

some web site. but i read a bunch of them and chose the very best one. honest.

PB and banana wrap

Submitted by Fart O. Zelinsky on Mon, 08/01/2005 - 2:45am.

spread PB thickly on the wrap/tortilla
quarter banana lengthwise, then cut into 2" strips
put banana strips on one side of tortilla
roll it up
slice it on a bias like you're in a snooty cafe or something and it's portobella in there.

this stroke of genius came to me today. the kid liked it so much that she asked for a second, and requested that she get one in her lunchbox every day. bananas are a whole lot heathier than jelly. and these "wraps," you can get them in organic/whole grain versions.
