A note from the techMama
Hey mamas--
I'm the frumpy little elf behind the screen who keeps things running technically around here. 
I know we've had some slowness issues (every site on this server has had the same problem) and so I'm doing several things to help stabilize and speed things up. I'm hoping that these changes have already had an effect here; is it getting better or worse? I'm seeing things as better, but I want to know what you're seeing. Thanks.

Things were slow, and not letting me get to the individual blogs yesterday, but haven't had any problems today...thanks for being here and fixing things!

Things seem way better to me.
Thank you for working hard to try to get our awesome site back in shape. Actually, it has been slow lately, but today was the worst. Usually it is slow but I can get on, so I'm cool with it. I might get kicked off and have to log back onto the site but I can get on. Today, I got that forbidden thing also, and I could not make comments for a while when I did get on. It is doing much better now, though. I still can't see who is online, but that's ok. I'm just relieved to be able to get on. Yeah! Thank you for taking the time to work on it, and for finding out what we are experiencing.

I had a selfish reason too; my sites are on the same box as the hipmama sites and everything was CRAWLING, not just hipmama. I'm just glad I figured out what the bottleneck was. I still have a little bit of tweaking to do, and towards the end of November Bee and I may be upgrading the site which will result in a bit of messiness for a few days. But we'll give you lots of notice. The upgrade is totally worth it; I use this same software on many different sites and this one is using software that's 3 versions out of date.
