Remember when I was asking for ideas about starting a blog?
This thing has been stewing in my head for some time, and my wonderful friend Meg is helping me flesh this thing out. This is a project that has been in our brains for a while, and we figured there is no time like the present to just get it started!
Moonshine Magazine is an experiment in writing alchemy. There are plenty of prestigious literary mags out there. Moonshine is handmade in secret by the light the moon.
But we need submissions. It's a little short notice, but we're ready to get started and Meg and I don't want to write the whole thing ourselves. We will. But we'd rather you do it.

This is a side project for funsies right now, but I hope it could be something more in the future. We had thought about restricting it to Kansas City at first, but since it's an online thing there's no reason to be restrictive.
YEAH!!!! I will send you something soon!

Go to the submissions page. We're accepting all different kinds of things. The idea for it came from a discussion about how hard it can be to get published, how you have to "play the game" with magazines, and sometimes sell out a little bit just to get your stuff read. And the point is that sometimes writers write because they like to, and not necessarily to impress anyone. That's why we called it Moonshine, because it's homemade by real people who break the rules.
You don't necessarily have to follow the themes. If it's fairly well-written and somewhat interesting, and if it fits the length restrictions, we'll probably publish it. Send us whatever and we'll let you know.
