I have a project going on which will soon involve posting videos online. I am trying to decide among platforms. I really enjoy using vimeo... it is such a friendly and stylish user interface. BUT on the other hand, people keep telling me that they are more likely to watch a youtube video because it is what they are familiar with.
Absolutely any input at all would be helpful. Which are you more likely to watch? Have you ever had any trouble with watching any certain types of videos online? Are any platforms especially good in your opinion?
Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer as I make this decision.
I prefer vimeo for watching. But for promoting things youtube is better. Google has that angle worked out....

When I watch something, it's usually because a friend directed me to it so where it's posted is not as important. I normally only search you tube for instructional things (baby wrapping, hamster keeping, etc)
Right now my brother is working on a video project & they have a website but I think they'll also be using youtube & I don't know if that was a deliberate choice or not but I will try and remember to ask him!
I just remembered that my friend Stella Marrs used vimeo for a recent project:

OK, the website is up and there are two videos posted so far. I'm posting one per month. Feel free to check it out and let me know what you think!
60 second documentaries.
Wow! Awesome!
Tell me more - is this going to be documentaries about people in your community?

Currently it's only people who are close to me geographically for convenience sake... but I'd love to expand the scope of the project eventually and travel far and wide to do the interviews.
I really liked both of the documentaries!
Why does the matchstick man burn his work?

Thanks for taking the time to watch them! I never actually asked that precise question... but based on the interview he gave (which was about 20 minutes long) I believe burning the art was never a question for him, he always intended it to be burned.

When I was your age, I was already trying to kill my second husband and make it look like bears did it.
