my immediate thought is pamela tanner boll. i'm sure i will think of more.
generally though, i have been wondering a lot over the last few years about the mothers of people we tend to admire, and i would love to hear an interview of an artist or musician, on the topic of his/her mother, their relationship and how she helped/hindered their progress, her attitude toward their vocations, her efforts to facilitate, things of this nature.
When I was your age, I was already trying to kill my second husband and make it look like bears did it. @MadameFilth books!
Here are people who I would love to see interviews with!

Ina May Gaskin - midwife
Penny Simkin - doula
Grace Llewellyn - author of "The Teenage Liberation Handbook"
Randi Hacker - Young adult novelist, wrote "Life as I Knew It."
Annie Sprinkle - sex educator, performance artist
Linda Montano - performance artist, academic
Barbara Carellas - Performer, writer, performance artist, sex educator

Celine Parreñas Shimizu - Academic, author of "The Hypersexuality of Race: Performing Asian/American Women on Screen and Scene"
Kembra Pfahler - performance artist
Michelle Shocked - musician
Uma Thurman - actress in the movie "Motherhood"
Whoa, that interview is raw. It was thrilling and devastating at the same time. I feel like I need to lay down for a little while after having read it!
I LOVE Roseanne, and I have to say that she definitely gave me a new perspective on what it means to be a mother. I grew up without a mother, so my only role models were TV moms. I'm so grateful for Roseanne because I not only got watch a sitcom about a working class family that I could completely relate to, but I got a chance to see a mom who wasn't afraid to rude and sarcastic with everyone! Just be who you are, you know? June Cleaver isn't real, Roseanne Conner is. I have to say, she was an important part of my mom-view.

Roseanne Cash (on either subject of her as a mother or HER mother, as Mme Filth said! and art)
...
Denise Chávez - novelist, playwright. I'm not sure she actually has children, but her novels have had lots to say about mothers, daughters, grandmothers, community.
Jennifer Niesslein and Stephanie Wilkinson - founders of Brain, Child magazine
Barbara Kingsolver - novelist, poet, writer
brown femi power - blogger (although less of that lately), generally kick-ass activist and mother
second the recommendation of michelle shocked!!!
Louise Erdich - novelist, writer (I adore her novels but also her non-fiction The Blue Jay's Dance: A Birth Year, about early motherhood, creativity, writing)
Maira Kalman - artist
Tayari Jones - novelist
how's that for a start!!!

There were two shows that reflected reality as I knew it in my youth: Roseanne, and Twin Peaks.
I'm even more hugely enamoured of Roseanne after reading this! SO good!
