Happy Sunday, all you Hip Mamas (and Papas!). Taking a queue from the lovely Shadeshaman, here's my top 5 gratz list for Sunday:

1. A baby. Oh, my, I'm so grateful for her. On the most painful and frustrating of days, I look at her and she claps her hands, or giggles, or makes that little sound like she's asking a question even though she doesn't know what a question is. She makes me forget that I'm frustrated. Love, love, love that baby!

2. My partner. I can't even call him a husband, because the tag "husband" connotes certain behaviors and expectations that could never be met. He is, and always will be, my partner. He treats me with the respect a human being deserves, and he doesn't put up with my shit because I'm not a princess. I love him. I totally lucked out.

3. Homeownership! I know, I have to mow my own lawn, fix my own gutters, and do my own pest control. But there's this freedom that comes with owning a home, and this last year of homeownership has been so fantastic. In fact, we put a big dent in our wall on accident when we first moved in, and I'm leaving it there forever. I own that dent! Plus, we have a kick-ass deck off the back that all our friends can hang out on, AND a great smoking porch in the front!

4. My friends. They rock. Let me repeat: my friends rock. Maybe they hurt my feelings sometimes, and maybe they do some strange crap, but they are always there for me. I'm pretty lucky to have to have more good, stand-up, true friends than I can count on one hand.

5. My son. I mean it when I say that without my sweet boy, I would have died a long time ago. I out of control before he was born. I would have killed myself, or gotten myself killed, if he hadn't come along. I am so, so grateful for him.

I hope everyone is enjoying their day! It's flippin' hot here, but I guess that's what ice cream is for!

love it

esp. the bit about the dent. I just started looking at the frustrations of home-ownership (er...living in bankimony) very differently.

thanks V-Kitty! hope the grats keep coming for you
