waiting on a blood test
Was pregnant, then had a miscarriage. Four weeks later I took a test and it came back positive. So now I'm waiting on the blood work. I would think it's impossible to have a miscarriage and still be pregnant, but it happened with my DD - I must have miscarried a twin that time. Problem is I'm not sure what I'm wishing for at this point. I've spent the last four weeks drinking as much as I want, which on 3-5 occasions meant 3-4 drinks. That would have been during weeks 7-11. Eek. I know a lot of people drink without knowing they are preg., and I'll have a glass of wine or beer while pregnant, but I certainly wouldn't have had four glasses of wine. Or a cig.
And if I'm not pregnant, what is up with my hormones?!

a miscarriage is rough to go through...so sorry mama. yes, you can still be pregnant. I miscarried twins last year but was still pregnant with a baby in my tubes. It was a yucky nightmare, I hope that's not what's up with you. maybe it's something else...
I seemed to have a store of hcg sitting around...it took almost three months for a negative test even though ultrasounds showed nothing...it's all a big scary butt.

I wasn't positive I was pregnant. It was way too early(hadn't even missed yet) to tell when one of my old friend's came into town to crash. We drank(and smoked) like it was our jobs for about a week.
After she left, I felt a little more down than I would have thought since we had pretty well gone our separate ways a few years. I walked across the room to get a cup of tea when I heard the kettle and realized(lightening bolt!) I was pregnant. I think I might have had 4 glasses of wine and a couple of beers for the next 8 months.
When I went in for my 'official' confirmation a few weeks later, I found out I was pregnant with twins.
My twins are both healthy 3 yo, smart, active and happy. Maybe just luck.
If you're really worried about the effects of booze on pregnancy, look up the actual study that the WARNINGS are based on. I don't want to imply that alcohol is no big thing with newly preg moms, at all. Just that there is a ton of stuff that has gotten filtered out of the information most women get.
I hope everything works out the way you want it to, either way. Best of luck.

Sometimes you get implantation bleeds - and I guess they can be pretty pronounced sometimes so maybe that's what's happening here. Think of it as your baby nestling in deep - settling down for the 9 - 10 month coccooning...
stay well.

Well, the blood work came back with elevated hcg. It doesn't appear to be from my previous pregnancy, so i may be newly pregnant. There is a chance I could be pregnant again if I ovulated two weeks after my miscarriage. Anyway, I should know more by tomorrow. If my numbers have doubled then I'm about 2 weeks post-conception. If they haven't doubled, I will go in for an ultrasound on Thursday. Trying not to think too much until I get my blood results tomorrow, but it's impossible not to think about. I started eating really healthy and taking my prenatal, just in case (need to do this whether or not I'm pregnant). Fingers crossed everything is okay!
