Anyone know how to start a Childcare Co-op?
I just have this vague idea that people watch each others kids to get hours from the pot.
Any more info from anyone who has actually done such a thing would be great. Thinking of starting one in my new digs. Thanks!

when my kid was young. no one bit. may have been where i was living at the time, though.
now, parents call me for "playdates." meaning, they have tickets to something and they need to let their child have a "playdate" with my child at my house so as not to leave their child alone at home. not to be confused with babysitting, which would be something i'd be compensated for either with money or with them returning the favor. you can ask if parents would be willing to have a daily "playdate" (i'm going to excessively use quotation marks with you from now on) from 9-2.
oh and then once you find someone who's willing to stay with your kid, you then have to assess whether you'd want to, whether you'd trust them, etc. sometimes i think it's just easier to wait till they're teenagers and can take care of themselves.
i hope it works out.

I found 5 like-minded mamas who are pretty much in the same realm of safety as I am when it comes to kid stuff- and they all know each other- & I'm pretty sure that at least 1 more is going to hop on board- this is pretty sweet!
