Money Mamas: Anyone Interested in Saving $10 a Month?
I suck at saving money for a rainy day. I am good at saving for a goal, such as for my bookstore and for our strawbale house. Like anytime I want something big I can focus and sock away money for it. But just saving money for savings sake, no I struggle doing it. I will admit, I have a poverty mentality. I tend to want what I want when I want it, NOW. I struggle with delayed gratification issues. My money issues affect just about everything in my life, I need to keep it real. From my marriage to how I run my business, everything. There have been too many times I've had my accounts down to zero, too many times of scrounging about the house for change, too much money blown on late fees, etc. So I am challenging myself to save money. Just $10 a month for now. I blow at least that on unnecessary stuff anyway.
I'm doing this now until December. So by December I should have $50 cash socked away. Anybody care to join me?

I can do this! I think I might make it $20, though, if that's alright with you. I spend too much money of books and coffee anyway! I should save up and then go on a book buying spree in December! Let's go!

I'll commit to $10, and kick in more if I can.
I might try for more, but I will certainly commit to the ten.

great idea baby!
thanks for jump starting this action - it's all about the intention and growth, there's a lot that we can learn by doing this.
$10 is a good sum of money to start with!
plus i appreciate your feelings about struggling with a poverty mentality, i respect what you're saying - it's been challenging for me to replace my own poverty or scarcity pattern, i work on it, daily.

i think you've done an excellent job saving your money - keep going! you're doing it!
love you so much!
i finally went and saw basquait last night - genius film, you have to see this! it was definitely life affirming, and such an amazing tribute to him as a person and artist - his art is compelling, and it was awesome to see tamra davis throw together such a unique film that was chock full of odds and ends - tons of cool found footage from the early art scene in new york - late 70's to early/mid 80's - great interviews. old footage that i had never scene before - a cool kick ass public access show that she somehow dug up - it was restored nicely!
i was personally inspired by this film because it was low budget, and nobody minded it - they had so many audio issues, because so much of the footage was amateurishly shot *and it was wonderful! it worked!*, and i could tell it was hard for them to work out the kinks, in some cases they didn't even bother with it - and i totally respect that.
best movie i've seen all summer!
and here's the money saving part that you'll appreciate:!!
i went with a good friend of mine wylin and ran into a few folks i know - hugs all around, and scored the free admission, plus free popcorn!
what a treat!
this is what i live for!
keep saving, you'll have your $50 bucks by christmas - and then i say: treat yourself to something nice - you've earned it!

I've got nothing. Saving money is out of the question. My husband lost his job, I only work part time, and child labor is illegal now! Any money that used to be "extra" is now just keeping us fed. Good luck to the rest of you, though! Once we get some income I'll be stashing some away!

I'm sticking with $10 because that's easy and doable for me. More and I might (no I will ha ha) find reasons why I can't save it.
