It looks spectacular- brilliant- puts Ireland on the map in the realm of animation- the creator Tomm Moore, started it as a college project back in 2005- $8 million dollar budget. Coraline was amazing..... as was The Fantastic Mr. Fox, of course- but I can't help hoping that The Secret of Kells gets it- and I haven't even seen it yet! Just the trailers! Superb artistry! $8 million is a very small budget for something like this. I'm going to be watching it soon, in the next few days, on vacation....... Whoohoo! P.S. Watch the HD version if you can. Fucking amazing.
But you're right, it's very similar in some ways....stylistically. I need to watch some Samurai Jack, it's been years....

love all the strong actresses and FIRST EVER woman director to win and 300 pound black woman nominated for best actress and sandra bullock exonerating motherhood- strong women there to REPRESENT. and most looking curvier rather than emaciated most years! made me cry.
