SERIOUS Nesting- obese photodump
FIrst of all a serious taints up for motorman. I'm so glad that i'm having a baby with him! For so many reasons that are only becoming more and more evident as we're getting closer to our birth oddyssey (sp?).
Anyway- I asked him for a indoor laundry drying system for christmas and told him more or less how i wanted it and he whipped this puppy up for me between other serious remodeling work.

It has a pully system so that i can let it down to put the stuff on it and then put it up at the ceiling to keep stuff out of the way. The stuff dries pretty fast since it's so near the wood burner. As you can see it's full of the first load of diaper laundry, since apparently part of my nesting impulse was to wash all my diapers that I've sewn again, just in case they were dusty or something.
Also he hung these shelves in our hallway. It's our library. The books are so high up that they are occupying what would otherwise be a nonfunctional space, high enough that only a freaky basketball player type would bump their head on them. We use the ladder to get to them.

And here's what I've been up to. First off, I feel compelled to make massive batches of food and freeze more than half of them.

I finally got some ¨technical diaper fabric¨ so I went apeshit making pul diaper covers/pockets. They are made with stay dry liner fabrics so that i can use them as pockets or covers. Since no one can really be sure how big this bean will be when he comes out they go from tiny to small.

but two more of them are missing on photobucket and i don't feel like looking for them.
I also made these one size pockets that won't fit until motorboy is ready for smalls.

they have a snap down system that makes them change size from small to large. Here they are on the small setting.
And I made some that only work as covers, but are a snappy little pattern that doesn't use any elastic and is said to be exceptionally comfortable for that reason.

and while i was working with the fleece I made some hats and booties (each has a matching soaker that i made a long time ago too, and a matching pannel to go in my baby carrier)

And for me I made some tester breast pads to find out what size I'll be needing. Definately gonna need the bigger size, but i need to check on my other chat group to find out how many i should try to get made.

I made the skull and crossbones bags for my wet menstrual pads. They're lined with white pul and have snaps on them so i can snap them to the bags i already had for my dry pads (I made the dry bags something like 7 years ago and was just using plastic shopping bags for the wet ones).

and to end off here are some pictures of my beautiful belly and my beautiful tired face.

where did you learn to sew like that?
Motorman is one handy dude.
Congratulations on nesting...looking forward to seeing the nestling soon.

I am a cowboy seamstress myself. some people are perfectionists, some people are just haters. if I waited before I actually became a great seamstress I would still never have sewn a thing.
your pics are lovely and you have an intuitive talent for sewing. Your stuff is very nice and I'm sure baby bean will enjoy wearing them!
Seeing these cheered me up- thanks for sharing! I can't believe those diapers! AWESOME.
Your instinct to cook massive quantities of food and freeze it is a good one. You guys are so ready! I'm sure you've heard this a lot lately but get as much rest as you can. I know it's nearly impossible. Put your feet up! You truly do look beautiful- and exhausted!
you are so brilliant. can i just say that right off? *so* brilliant. gorgeous stuff. fancy motorman. you look a little...um...done? in yer photos? i totally remember that feeling.
about birthing...
for me, at least, it was THE MOST FUN i have ever had. seriously. no sarcasm. the *most* fun. so. i think yer gonna do great. yeah odyssey (sp?).
sending much much monkey love yer way.

that signature smile is fading, you're starting to look so ready.
great sewing!
rockin' diapers covers (and hats, booties, pad bag etc... everything is always so great!)... they look like they can withstand a serious poop blowout... and have the added benefit of being super stylish.
your drying system, well, I'm totally envious.... looks awesome and will be perfect for drying all those diapers.
and YOU my dear mama, look fantastic. your belly and your face : )
plus, that soup looks delicious. so smart to have freezer stuff.
hugs to you while you wait for your babe. and your man seems like a dream guy, so glad you have him.

i know it's totally obnoxious when people say this but i wish i could reach through cyberspace and rub that belleh. i would ask first though, of course. heh. and it's just an old wives tale but i notice that your belleh button is poking out now... does that mean the baby's "done"?!
you made some good stuff there, motor! that diaper collection you've got going is enviable, to say the least. and re-usable fabric breast pads are definitely the way to go; i used the disposables for awhile and used to get so grossed out by how the leakage would make the absorbant chemical in them swell up turn into weird gel. all i could think was "my baby is going to get traces of that shit in her mouth when she drinks my milk?!" booooo to boobie chemicals, yay to hand-made and natural!
thinking of you in this final stretch, mama. xoxo

And i pick up pointers at the diaper sewing divas.
But most of it is truly wonky and an experienced seamstress would see lots of flaws if i took real detail photos. My home- ec teacher would be nothing but critical. Real c- work. I don't give a shit, because my only concern is that things be functional, long lasting, and look good from a reasonable distance- anybody who would look closely enough and then criticize is an ass anyway.
anyway I'm proud of my shoddy cowboy sewing! I can get a lot more finished when i let the details be damned, and i use the shit out of the stuff i make.
