a big TMI question about Egg White CM, semen allergy, vaginismus?
its leading up to O time (and as many of you know, I'm on month 17 or so of TTC)...and so I'm thinking about EWCM. and I'm thinking about it because I rarely, if ever, have any. some months I get a little string of it (always so exciting when it happens) most months I get nada. nothing. 0. ziltch. sometimes nothing comes out but I feel a tiny bit itchy/slippery around O time. but mostly nothing.
I've tried it all: maca, red raspberry/nettle/red clover combo (regularly drank the tea for five or so years.... no longer do), carrots, grapefruit juice, WATER WATER WATER. I'm not on medication. I take B vits and cod liver oil (have been for years). My ND had me on fertility herbs and a personalized hormone cream (both of which I've now weaned off of). nothing has made a marked difference.
and maybe I should add, that I've never been someone with a heavy amount of ANY kind of CM/lubrication during the month/sex. (just to add, things have been more so in the last couple years, enough so we don't have to use lubrication while ttc but its still not quite enough kwim)
and here is the second part of this question: along with little cervical mucus/vaginal lubrication, sometimes I wonder (and have for many years) if I have a semen allergy (and maybe not chronic yeast infections?!?). I have had bouts of terrible swelling and stinging during and/or after sex. the last couple years (off of gluten, good partner) things have improved but I still have the once or so a month, puffed-pootie!... sometimes more... sometimes less. I have also struggled with mild to moderate vaginismus (anxiety about, pain associated with sex). It is not ALL the time but enough to warrant figuring out what exactly is going on, mostly whether it is an emotional issue or an allergic reaction... its the chicken and the egg question, I'm not sure what came first. I don't know what kind of "tests" can be done to figure out what exactly is going on but thought you smart ladies might have some good info or experience with these issues. thoughts? ideas? commiserations? an MD is in my near future so if you think of anything you've tried/heard or know about that I might want to mention at my next appointment would be very much appreciated.
thanks again ladies,
: )

i was taken to the emergency room as a 15 year old, after giving my first ever blow job, (i won't come in your mouth, i promise!) with violent vomiting and my throat swelled up, burning, itching, etc, and the ER doc said it was an allergic reaction to "human sperm"...he seriously said "human", like i was good to go if i wanted to blow a goat in the future.
i digress.
i didn't give anybody head for a couple of years, then tried with a very serious boyfriend and it was fine. leading me to think that i was either a) allergic to something that he ate? or b) allergic to my head being jammed down at the big moment and teenage skaterboy sperm being projectile-shot down my throat.
was that helpful? i hope at least it gave you a laugh!

Oh, no, wait, that's me. I'm the Goat Fluffer.

not trying to jack your turf, mama. i am more into skinny asian boys anyway, if i was gonna be a pro fluffer.
but for many years since, i laugh at it myself.
in all seriousness, though, i just started seeing a pricey MD who specializes in fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue, both of which i have been diagnosed with and struggled with for years. he has his patients fill out a 23 page long form about their history, and based on some of mine, he has started me on a prescription of nystatin because he thinks i have a moderate yeast overgrowth. he reminded me that nystatin is safe enough to give to babies. i am starting it tomorrow. my friend who referred me to the specialist was on nystatin for four months (!) for a severe yeast overgrowth. she is a little thing to start with, and lost a pant size just from getting the yeast in her gut back to normal. wow! maybe see if your doc will talk to you about it?
I've had a chronic yeast infection for years and have spent the last few months not eating sugar or wheat or having booze (or sex, for that matter, but not as a treatment, per se), and drinking diluted apple cider vinegar in an effort to rid my body of it. I am certain that I got this condition from my ex, years ago. I would always get itchy and yeasty after sex with him, then I would do the monistat thing, then get another yeast infection after having sex with him. Clearly, he had a systemic yeast infection and I kept getting it from him.
Anyway, maybe you and your partner could treat for a systemic yeast infection...
or would you consider yourself to be very thin or very skinny? I have no data to support this, just anecdotal but for what it's worth, 2 friends of mine who have had this problem (being dry, little mucous during ovulation, etc.) gained weight (one 15 pounds, one 20) at the suggestion of their docs and bingo! normal juicy cooch and both pregnant within a year.
On the allergy stuff, sounds like to me your man is the one with a chronic infection and you keep getting it from him. has he been checked out?
I know exactly how to gain weight...my issue is keeping it off LOL!
135 is optimal weight for a woman of your height (you go first 5feet 100 pounds then 5 pounds per inch after) so if you gain 10-15 pounds that will get you at what's considered the best/healthiest weight.
ok so how to gain weight! Nuts, nuts, nuts. walnuts especially are good fatty and all nuts are high in protein. If you add a couple of handfuls of nuts every day to your current diet that ought to put on a few extra pounds. Soy 'milk'shakes are good weight boosters, or you can try real milkshakes if your body can handle the dairy. Add a few more fried foods to your diet i.e french fries. It doesn't take much oil to put weight on you, just a few servings of french fries every week will add on some extra pounds over time. Last but not least, hit the gym or get some weights. Weight training will increase your muscle, muscle weighs more than fat plus gets you stronger.
p.s my friends who were very thin before gaining weight and having babies, after they had their kids their food issues basically disappeared. We like to joke that nature rewarded them for having kids by taking away the food allergies LOL.
Fats are good, but don't make you gain weight. The only trigger for weight storage is insulin. So, gluten free carbs would be the best thing for you. White rice, potatoes and lemonade, my friend.
Sunflower the unflower
I just said lemonade because it has sugar and it's not soda. Glad you like it!
Here is a good source with info about vaginismus:
Feminists with Female Sexual Dysfunction. You might want to read about the other pain disorders, and see if any of it sounds familiar.
I am not sure how to diagnose a sperm allergy. I would think you would be able to put some on your skin, like on the inside of your arm, and do an allergy test, like you would with hair dye. You also may have cervicitis, and may be irritated by sex, not sperm. You can try having an entire sex session and have him come on the outside (like, on your arm for the allergy test) and see if you are still irritated. If so, it may be cervicitis, and not a sperm allergy. If you're not irritated inside, but you are on your arm, sperm allergy. Obviously you'd want to do this some time where you are most likely not ovulating, so you don't waste a possible fertilization.
As for the EWCM, I am not sure what the exact amount is that you need, necessarily. Have you done any other charting, and is that looking like you are ovulating, other than the mucus quality? Gaining weight to be an an adequate range (whatever that is) is important for ovulation and fertility in general. There are some lubes that are specifically designed for fertility you could use, if everything else is functioning. I have also heard of literally using the egg white as lube, and that was backed up by research I did! I was amazed. It's apparently effective.
Good luck.
i have no help to offer, but it's been bugging me, what is EWCM?
