improv everywhere?
but it seems like something off this episode of this american life: http://www.thislife.org/Radio_Episode.aspx?sched=1329 that was a while ago. i think making it into a "day" is kinda missing the point. but hey, if as long as people were having fun.
i personally love stuff like this. trigger happy tv was a great show.

Did some googling on flash
Did some googling on flash mobs and found this site, http://improveverywhere.com/ . Apparently they are the ones who organized the no pants subway ride. Lots of good stuff.
I want to be in the Sound of Music flash mob, total awesomeness.
