I think I might actually graduate. It's all contingent on whether or not a certain professor will take pity on me. But I can do it. I have a final today and couple papers to upload and I'll be a college graduate. An unemployed college graduate. A highly educated and well-spoken couch potato. Mmm... potatoes...

I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to do with myself. Montessori teaching is no longer an option. Teaching history requires two more years of school to become certified. If I'm going to go to school for two more years I may as well get my master's! Maybe social work? I don't know what to do. I've been in school for more than 5 years and it's what I do. I'm not sure I can do much else.

But, at least I'm educated and degreed sitting around not knowing what to do with myself. So, there's that.

It's a crazy reason, but it's

It's a crazy reason, but it's my wheat allergy. Montessori is working with small children, and the job includes little kids coming to school covered in toast crumbs, lunch time with sandwiches and crackers, and afternoon snacktime. The last time I worked in a Montessori school I was sick at least once a week! I've gone over all of the different ways I can be a Montessori teacher and keep this from happening, but I think the Universe is telling me it's time to move on. I just wish it would tell me what I was moving on to. Puzzled

Although that's the new niche

Although that's the new niche market, allergen-free day cares and preschools. A lady near me does a wheat/egg/milk free day care because of her own son's allergy...

well congratulations

if you go for your masters, will you be automatically certifiable (heh)? i think that's how it works in NJ. you still have to apply for the certificate, but the masters automatically qualifies you.

can you substitute teach? round here, you just have to have a bachelor's to sub. and when you're on a school's payroll, you can apply for tuition reimbursement from the district.

with the job market the way it is, you may want to consider forgoing the job search and continue on in school.
