Fitness Mamas: What's Your Favorite Exercise?
hands down for me it's running! because it is so fun and when you hit your stride, the feeling of bliss is incredible. and I don't have to go to the gym to do it, I can just zip out my front door! In a close second is the elliptical machine, because it is such a high calorie burn and no impact, it doesn't even feel like you're pushing your body as hard as you are. In a close third is walking, because it is so easy to do and can be done outdoors in all weather (running in winter where I live can be quite dangerous, ice slicks on the road and whatnot) as well as indoors on a treadmill or just marching in front of the tv.
I'm working so much I'm finding it hard to make time for exercise. I'm off today so had a quick 2 mile walk and plan a 3 mile run in the evening. I'm going to take some time to work my exercise schedule out, I know at the very least I can walk a mile every morning before work, that's just 12 minutes. I'll do it right after yoga. I'd like to get in a good long run (for me that's 5miles) at least twice a week and to the gym at least twice a week. I also need to work out my eating plan. I need to get back to making my lunch and taking my snacks, and sticking to whole foods as much as possible. and water! lots and lots of water.
I need to get back into my blog Supple Mama too:
http://supplemama.com
I think I'll post my workouts daily, and food issues. More posts about how I'm feeling, struggling with food and stuff like that. I'm thinking of opening it up as a community blog, not sure though.
Today’s health/fitness goals:

Run 3 miles

like ALL day walking. picking somewhere fun to go and walking all the way there and all the way back. its not exactly cardio but it totally keeps me feeling good! getting to do something fun along the way, look at the city around me, stop for tea etc. keeps my shorts attention span at ease : )
1. Bike riding at a slow commuter speed with the bike trailer and a four year old in tow as weight training.
2. Elliptical cross trainer on the hill setting for about 45 minutes of slog for cardio.
3. Walking as my (low impact, around the town, return the library books and pick up milk) default exercise
i love to excerise! even if i'm tired, i'll still work out - i know when my body needs it.
1. i always opt for a hardcore 10 minute warm up - i prefer a good ol' fashioned row machine. there's only two in my gym, so if they're both in use, i'll ditch out for an elliptical.
2. i like to work out at full speed, keeping my heart rate in about the 155 range. i'll hit the new precor's hard for about 30 minute. sometimes less, if time is an issue.
i'll pick up the weights again this month - i like to lift!
i usually wrap up the experience with a dip in the saltwater whirlpool and steam room. i like to channel when i work out!
i like to keep my body moving, i need to!
i don't count calories, i like to be mindful of what i'm putting in my body - but honestly, i eat what i want, when i want to.
i just try to wrap it up when i'm full - and i like to eat a lot of protein. fresh fruit, and veggies are great, seasonal is good!
enjoy your sweat!

The Elliptical Machine!
"But is it my manner that keeps her from hearing, or the threat of a message that her life may change?"

When I have time/access to one (ok I've GOT access to one I just haven't used the gym at my college yet for some stupid reason). It's great if you have a knee that acts up- it never gives my knee trouble because it's no impact.
It's a great invigorating/no pain work-out. I could see myself getting addicted if I wasn't so agoraphobic about going to the college gym. Alright fuck it it's going to be part of my new year's resolution and all that.
I've been running to the rec center (about 1.5 miles away), biking on the bike machine for 10-12 minutes, doing some weights and then running home. It only takes me about 50 minutes but I figure it's pretty good because my heart rate is up the whole time and it suits my need for variety.
I have been swimming a little too. Swimming always feels great to me.
Gyrokinesis & yoga, though I need to get back to the Y. Come better weather, I want to be able to bicycle the 12 or so miles to work, without needing a nap when I get there & there isn't room in our house to put my bike on a trainer inside.

I'd like to pick up biking again, and I'm going to try out the row machine. I was scared of it a little LOL
