Bummed Out
Since I have been on my regular psych meds regimen, taking Vitex and Omega-3s, and my menstrual cycles have resumed their regular 23 day cycles, I have been using Ovulation Predictor Tests to prepare data for my next preconception visit this coming week.
According to the various online calculators and such, I should have or be ovulating momentarily. And although I have followed the OPT instructions to the letter, I have continuously gotten a negative result.
I am scared that I am not ovulating. I am scared that this is because I am overweight, overstressed, etc. I have actually been pretty good about relaxing about our timeline to conceive since now I know there's no rush about being off of my psych meds.
And yet.
I have hope in getting more information from the UCLA high-risk OBs. I just want to be okay, I just want to be normal. (I really can't believe I actually said I want to be normal. Now that's a first.)
I already have so many other issues I am managing that make me feel "broken" - I don't know what I'll do if fertility is another one.

I only ovulate from one ovary though i have 2, which means sometimes my one compensates and i ovulate every month and sometimes i dont ovulate at all.i dont know how long you have been trying to conceive but just in case you know "they" say it takes an "average" couple 18 months to conceive. soo if only one ovary is working you'd have to double that.hang in there mama.

And are you charting for temperature changes? If your cycle is 23 days, you would be checking 5 days earlier than most instructions would indicate.

Because i read in there that some women don't have a high enough hormone peak when they ovulate to get a positive on an ovulation kit, but they still ovulate just fine. Also it said that you can sometimes miss it if you only test once a day, something about the hormones not lasting that long.
What i read there slanted me away from ovulation tests altogether. I'm just charting for the time being to see if my charts look normal.
More on that some other time. Good luck, mama. Don't let the OPK freak you out!

I think everyone has given you some good advice. I'm in a similar boat and I don't really like the ovulation predictor things either. I just started charting my temp for the first time (I'd been checking my cervix before) this month and am curious to see what shows up.
Good luck to you. don't loose hope
hugs to you from another trying-mama!

Now that you mention it, last month (when I wasn't doing the OPK) I actually could feel my left ovary do its thing. Maybe something to mention to the high-risk OB on Wednesday... And since I've become pregnant with success in the past, this theory eases my mind somewhat.
