Not sure if there are any other Jersey moms these days besides myself and Madame Filth, but just in case (and MF if you are interested)...
I first heard about this film here, I think from Madame Filth herself...tried to go see it, sold out! Dang! So I decided to get my group to host it instead.

Yeah, when you first told us about the film

I went to the website and saw that it had already been shown at Douglass. Then my local paper said it was being shown in L'ville but when I trekked down there it was sold out!
Thanks for sharing it at the academy. We're hopefully going to have a panel of women artists speaking after the show, too.

also, I don't live in NJ yet, but might be moving to Princeton. Can either of you tell me about that town? or the area? Ps we are hoping to continue doing the car free thing, but know it might be hard. any tips? thoughts?

I don't know much about Princeton

It's a University town, a wealthy/expensive town. You'd probably be fine surviving with no car as you could walk to most things you'd need and there's a train station close. Madame, are you more familiar with Princeton?

princeton kicks ass

as long as you never, ever, ever talk to the locals. which, believe me, they help you out with.
.
there are a lot of really cool outdoorsy things to do in that whole area, it's really quite beautiful. princeton record exchange is a great place for music too. for live music, you would probably drive down to philadelphia, which has some good venues. you can also get on a train to NYC. but princeton university actually has a good art museum. let's see, what else... i was just there this weekend, just tooling around looking at old graveyards. oh the public library! it's like a giant book store. and there was an act of terrorism there, so when you go read you'll be part of history! yay. there is the delaware river and all the colonial shit. there's a zen group... and an art house movie theater.
.
it doesn't have as many good restaurants as you'd expect in a hoity toity town. i usually leave town when i need to eat. we get sandwiches and go to the lake and watch the rowing teams practice. they fucking FLY across the water. it's nutty.....there are a couple of frank lloyd wright houses in the area....
.
that's all i can think of right now. but there is never any shortage of things to do in princeton, and you can always get to either major city without too much hassle. can't tell you what it would be like to live there.

ha ha one of my facebook friends

"just took the 'what NJ town should you live in?' test and the result was Princeton" ...
this is what they say about it:
This is where you belong if you like being around ritzy people. This town has a great college, hospital, and a really nice downtown. There are excellent stores, eateries, and cultural happenings. Be prepared to spend a fortune on a home here.

being around ritzy people? that's a draw? ugh. i have relatives there. not in the hoity toity part, in the surrounding area. the actual borders of the borough keep changing, because everyone wants to say they're in princeton. so sometimes i will get a card and it will say one town, another year it'll say princeton, then it's back to the other town again. and all the businesses.... when you get within five miles of the place it's all "princeton cleaners" and "princeton bait shop." please. i tend not to shop there. i really only go into town for the records. i look around and see people wearing clothes that cost more than my car.

that's what I thought my

that's what I thought Sad
my boyfriend is looking for postdoc options and Princeton is one of them.

I dont' even know how to drive and we love having a car free life and are trying to brainstorm how one might do that in the area as I know its super expensive. I guess we'll continue living in a tiny apartment. I hear there is a great record store and public library.

thanks for the info. its saving grace is thats its so close to nyc where all my friends are, maybe I can just ignore the snootiness and do my own thing my own way.
