She had a top-of-the-line Britax, but she's over 30lbs now and I'm wondering if we could scale it down...any recommendations or review sites you like?

Also, the accident was the other parties fault. My car will probably be totalled out. Everyone's okay, but I am sending s/o and dd to the chiropractor at least, as both are hurting...I'm a little concerned, because I know it tends to get worse after a couple of days.
So we've had time off work, had to cancel a trip...what can I be reimbursed for here? I hate that I sound like an opportunist, but the truth is this a real inconveience and hurting us financially. And I've paid $100 a month since I was 16, so I don't feel that bad.
Thoughts?

I would

try to get the replacement value. We have a brand new graco turbo something or other toddler seat/booster seat, and it's pretty alright. It's easy, light, cute enough (especially compared to the car seat we had) and has a back that eventually comes off (once they hit 40 pounds). It was not that expensive, and it's comfy and easy to deal with and move. I am sure there are cooler/fancier/cheaper options too. I read a ton of reviews on amazon, and then searched for the seat (google) and read more reviews. We haven't done any crashing (knock on wood), but it's working in all of the other ways. I wanted this cool seat that it ended up only worked with new cars, and I am glad we don't have a new car or I might have purchased it thinking that all cars would work with it, when actually, they don't.

I think that's the turbo thingy I've been looking at

had a lot of good reviews and lighter than the mammoth convertible seat we were using.

opportunist, shmoppertunist...

i swear that after all the insurance money that i have spent in my life, and i have spent A LOT more than 100 a month, i would call one of those ambulance chasing lawyers the next time somebody hit me.
listen to this...punkpapa hit somebody from behind on an onramp a few years ago. said they threw their brakes on. turns out he was probably right cause this guy WAS an ambulance chasing lawyer. he sued for "personal damages" and got 10,000 cash from my insurance company. yep. and HE drove away while MY car was towed off looking like a crushed diet coke can. (i had a new beetle then, he drove a jag. yep.)
NOW i am not saying that was right, i am just saying it is possible if you know the system to get A LOT from an insurance company, so i say, call somebody that knows the system and HONESTLY get back what you are losing as a result of this accident that wasn't your fault. Smile

talked w the insurance today and we're taking more of

a hit than I had realized, so maybe we will consult a lawyer. Here's what I find intriguing: the driver at fault said her vision was blocked by one of the anti-choice protestor's giant dead baby signs. I'd love to shut them down!

I am so sorry about the accident

Hope everyone is feeling 100% soon
For carseats I recently bought a graco nautilus. I can not say enough good things about it. I bought it on Amaz*n, they had the best price plus free shipping, it was a bit expensive, around $150 is I am remembering correctly but worth it because it's a 5 point harness up to 65 pounds after which it can be converted to a booster up to 100 pounds. It's a nice, solid seat & Bugs is super comfortable riding in it.
