I guess I am a horrible person

It's 9 pm where I am and two kids just came into my room to watch me play Animal Crossing, and I kicked them out. (I can totally hear them whispering about me in the kitchen)

In my defense, every moment that I play Animal Crossing, those two kids climb up my ass and set up camp. I don't play all the time, and every other time save this one time, I let them on the bed and let them tell me what to do
"Go here, Go there. Get me this. Plant a tree..."
and I'm like fine, I'll do all that and just hang out with the kids and blah blah blah.

Now at this moment, I'm totally raggin it, and I just wanna relax and be alone. It's also 9pm and I consider this time to be more like my personal time. These kids are 8 and 9 so it's not like they need all the time supervision. They also have computers, dvd's, DS's, and a whole plethora of shiz to "play with."

Also, I ask them if they just wanna play, but they say no they just wanna watch me. And by watch they mean, talk LOUD, jump on the bed, argue with each other, ask me a billion questions....all the stuff that I usually do, but just don't feel like doing right now.

I guess I just want some me time. That's not so bad...right?

dude!

you EARN that me-time by being an awesome mama all day long...so you want a little space to veg with a game at night?? go for it, because you freaking deserve it! like you said, they're old enough to keep themselves entertained for a little while so you can be left alone. they love you to pieces, that's why they want to, like, crawl up your butt, but there's nothing wrong with saying "i love you guys, too, but this is MY time!"

btw, i'm going to have to check out this animal crosing game. it sounds pretty cool. i've been playing super mario galaxy a few nights a week lately but i get kind of annoyed when i can't beat something....like a giant octopus guy that took me like an hour to beat and i was muy enfada by the time i got past it. i think i could use something more laid back!!

Animal Crossing is super

Animal Crossing is super chill! Maybe too chill, I dunno though I am way addicted.

So they got over it, and went out to bug Stephen. This week has been hard too because Stephen's youngest (age 2) has decided to wake up around 3 in the morn and just scream and freak out and we have no idea why.

I'm rambling now, I need my coffee. But maybe you can rent Animal Crossing to see if you like it. I see in another comment that another momma plays, and wants to exchange friend codes so we can visit each other's towns and play together!

Thanks for the input MommyMash!

is the little guy having night terrors??

is he completely awake when he's freaking out at 3 am, or is kind of out of it and unresponsive when you try to calm him down?? i got night terrors when i was a kid, and it was really tough for my mom to deal with because even when she would try to comfort me i was still totally in a hypnotic-like state and didn't even know she was there. i'm sure you've thought of this stuff, i just figured i'd put it out there anyway!

btw, i'm cracking up now that i totally forgot i'm jobless and broke and was like "oooh, i need to get animal crossing!" like i have nothing more important to think about right now than wii games, right?!? still, i kinda want to rent it!

There have been a couple of

There have been a couple of times when we think he has had night terrors, but this is feels different because he's screaming because the covers are on his feet or he wants a pop tart or something, but even if we get him a pop tart he's still screaming.

A couple of times he has woken up and we think he has had a bad dream, because he is crying and wants to be consoled, but a couple times he has totally been screaming and unresponsive, and eyes open, but like not seeing anything. We would turn on dim lights and just hold him and say his name and kinda softly and like "Garrett, wake up." but not all loud and jarring, and eventually he would seem to kinda snap out of it and then go right to sleep.

The first time we were like --wtf was that? but then we figured it must have been night terror. Neither of my kids ever had them, nor did Stephen's older kid, so it was a new experience.

We are hoping this new thing is just one of those things....usually he is a pretty good sleeper, like he asks to get into his "baby's bed" and goes right to sleep. He had the flu for a couple of days, and his mom said that he has slept rough, but it's making us a little mental because we have been spoiled by a long stretch of good sleeping.

Okay, so you gotta get a job for now, but look into summer school, and school money!

well if you're horrible than I'm terrible

because if it were me, I would have made them go to bed. 8, 9 years old, past 9pm? Um, go to bed. yah, right now. I SAID right now. Oh it's not a school night and you want to stay up? Then be quiet and be still because I am trying to play. Understand?

LOL!! seriously though I am not the one. and neither are you! You deserve some time to play a video game. I tell you, as mothers we have to fight for the littlest things, have mercy...

Yeah, the bed time always

Yeah, the bed time always gets pushed on Saturday night!

I knew they were watching a TV show that ended at 9, and I knew it was over because I could hear a mini-stampede headed towards my room.

I think part of it is that one kid is mine and one kid is DP's and I am still getting used to being firm with DP's kid and not feeling like the evil step mother. This was really the first time I have been sort of put my foot down like, and I run and blog that I feel horrible about it...
LOL, I'll get it one day!

Ohh god! You sound so much

Ohh god! You sound so much like me and my kids!!! Haha! We really need to exchange codes for AC so we can visit each other's towns. I am just not getting into the new one too much because the controls are so weird for the wii. I like the game cube one better. But I think the more I play it, the more I'll like it. My husband started trying to get in on the action in my town and since you have to share a town in the new one, I told him I'd rather not play. Smile Haha. I'm a brat. So he deleted the town and now it's all mine. Enjoy yourself. You deserve some "me" time. "Life may not be the party we hoped for but while we're here we might as well dance".- Maya Angelou
