hey, has anybody else seen this? it has probably already been posted...i am a total lurker these days, but of course thought of the collective "you" when i saw this...

http://beautifulcervix.com/photos-of-cervix/

i was fascinated, at times a little queased out,
(i guess just a visceral response to seeing the inside of a body, which i don't particularly like, one of the many reasons that i don't want to be a medical doctor...)

but wow, what a cool thing to see like that...thoughts??

you are welcome!

i knew my sisters here would dig this!

wow!

that was *awesome*, although it made me a little queasy at times, too.

i actually got to see my own cervix on a tv screen during a colposcopy i had a few years ago (in case you don't know, a colposcopy is a cervical biopsy used to determine the severity of pre-cancerous cells found during a pap smear). the doctor wore these huge magnifying glasses with a video camera on them, and all the images were displayed on a tv across the room. it was VERY cool to see my own cervix (i remember saying "it looks like a honey donut!", haha), although i definitely stopped watching when it was time for the doctor to cut the actual biopsy. i totally wish i could have seen my cervix dilating and effacing during labor--imagine how breathtaking that would be!!

technology!

i had one of those years ago, no tv screen. it was like, 1988 though. it DOES look like a honey donut though! uh, ew. no, cool! no, ew. hahaha. my poor cervix never got to do that work, sigh. i was induced and failed to progress. medical issues. whatever. but yeah...what a cool like, stop motion film THAT would make. SO cool.

Wow

I love it. Thanks for sharing, I don't know how I'd ever see stuff like this if it wasn't for HM.

There have been plenty of times when having a visual of vaginal canal and cervix would have been really helpful - and now I do!

i agree, it is useful to know what this really does look like.

That IS really cool...

but you are right...I felt all squirmy and heeby jeeby for some reason. Like how you feel during a pap smear and they are taking that pipe cleaner/beaker cleaner thingy to you. Facinating but, I don't know, HARD to look at????WTF is up with that...?

What an interesting project!

What an interesting project! With as many cervices that I see everyday, I didn't have much of a reaction to it, though. With my young, very female population I do at least 3-4 pelvic exams every day I'm in clinic- it's like seeing someone's tonsils for me.
