I want minute to minute updates of election results -- official follow the election thread!
Damn - I know it's only 10am (on the West coast over here), but can't we get a clue???? I am so on edge to find out who is going to win this.
Does anybody know anything?

until the polls start closing back east, i think.
i'm not sure the best place to watch the results come in. my friend and i are going to try and brave a big election night party at the doug fir.
I already have CNN's results page up even though it won't show anything until tonight! I too want a vote by vote count!

Any objections for me making this the Official Election Thread?

I turned the news on at 7 this morning. I am such a wreck. Doug fir sounds nice. Too bad the roads are all snowing and I am 71/2 preggers. I would come be with you guys to watch! I want to go down to the headquarters and watch with all the volunteers.
Something to entertain us before the results start coming in...

That was the BEST! Thanks for the uplifting Barrackrolls!
PLEASE explain - is that first video for real? It's really funny no matter what, but I don't get it - is that the GOP Convention? Did Sarah and Cindy really stand up and clap at the end? Help me out.
No. It's totally not real. Just *beautiful*.

the *tiny* town of dixville notch NH is always officially the first poll to close and announce results, and here they are: 17 votes for obama, and 10 for mccain! the last time that town picked a dem was in 1968....but it was when they voted for hubert humphrey over richard nixon, so i'm not sure how comforting this is.
a crazy cocktail of emotions, this election day: excitment! fear! hope! confusion! resentment! faith! fascination! trepidation! pride! aaaand....ANXIETY! i am frikkin *smothering* under all this pressure!
The NPR reporter, the minute my alarm came on, said "And Obama wins by a landslide!" I had such a big smile on my face since then. We made buttons at school as a fundraiser, and I made one for myself that says "Obama by a landslide!"

I have teared up twice today already. Once listening to someone on the radio saying this election was like giving birth to her first son - you wait so long, and you are just praying the whole time that everything will come out OK, and you are so hopeful...
And then, this made me teary, too.
Sunflower the unflower
OH! Oh my gosh & now I'm all teary at work!

i'm shaking and laughing/crying at the same time. reading that makes this like the fourth time today i've burst into tears; the first was when i drove down a street in manchester nh that was lined with little girls all holding obama signs and cheering and waving at cars driving by. they were so proud! ack, even more tears now as i think about it.
when does HM cocktail hour start? call me crazy, but a stiff drink could do my frazzled nerves some good right now.
Hey, we're international, we hipmamas are... as my husband's grandmother used to say, "It's five o'clock somewhere in the world right now."
I was going to bring drinkies to work today (consulting firm, we can do that & it's not even particularly unusual), but I'm going to finish sucking down this green curry & try to focus on getting at least a *little* work done before I go home and just refresh this thread even *more* compulsively...

When I mailed my ballot the other day I made a point to talk to my 4 soon to be 5 year old about what I was doing. He asked me "mama, you ARE voting for Rocka Bama aren't you?"

I was just checking out the most recent exit polling and such, and while the McCain camp is basically saying "those aren't accurate, ever! Wait!" it's looking like Obama will probably have like 300 electoral votes. Even Rove agrees, on his website.
He's got it...everyone out there in Cali still needs to VOTE, especially because of Prop 8! But Obama's got it.

25/MN and WA. Queer, veg, single, AP mama to DD2.5.
Rove? Wait. THAT Rove? Holy crap. It's true! I went and looked! Said it out loud in amazement & a coworker says, "What, is he high? He's serious? WOOO!"
From FiveThirtyEight.com -- Today's Polls and Final Election Projection: Obama 349, McCain 189. Would. Be. So. AWESOME!

that is amazing. i so hope they are right.
I'm in class right now (a class dedicated to Canterbury Tales)(yay.)
But as soon as I get outta here, I am buying some vino or beer or something, because I'm a wreck with all this campaign stuff.
People here on campus are s hateful towards Obama, but I have the Hope!
I have to admit though, it's hard here in TN. people are not voting for Obama around here. I don't mean to be a downer, but that is my reality, luckily, we don't have a lot of electoral votes.
Is today enough justification to have a glass of wine while pregnant. Right now? So this thing of anxiety will go away? I think so...
Please help justify it!
I drank a Guiness a day in the last few months of my pregnancy. Had myself a big, strappin' 9 lb baby boy. A glass of wine is GOOD for mama so good for baby
