lost motivation
Technically, I'm a senior, but I still have about a year of school left before I get my useless (somewhat) English degree.
Currently, I am enrolled in an Anthropology 1010 class. It's one of those giant lecture classes, where there is no attendance.
So I never go to class unless I have something to submit or whatever. I read the book, do the hmwk and take extra notes on my own, but I still feel guilty about not going. I have done this in other classes, and I'm not really sure why I feel guilty.
But I just don't want to go to class!
I have decided to not even buy the textbook for another class. I'm pretty much gonna wing it.
It's like I have lost the desire to learn anything, and I'm just going through the motions at this point, and I don't want to f up my GPA.

i lost motivation in the last year. i think existing degree programs should be structured in such a way that the last year is a clinical/intern year, so that just when you start feeling that academic drift, you can get some concrete experience. plus, it'd make getting a related job much less daunting, too.
since that's not how it is at present, though, i'd say just hang in there. you're almost done, and i'm betting you'll be glad you got your paper when you do.

I know it's so hard - REALLY I know! I had my older one in tow and was pregnant with my second when I just about lost it during graduate school. Trust me on this: it gets harder the less you follow the motions. If this was easy (on many levels), everyone would do it, and since they don;t we know it's hard. Getting back up after blowing off classes is even more difficult - not to mention the damage to GPA's that can't be undone. Especially when you are so close to the finish line do as my wise friend Sonya told me: dig down deep and light a Mary candle before you go!

I just put in a few hours studying, so I feel drained but better. I haven't mukked up my GPA just yet, but if there was ever a semester for that to happen, this one is it.
I have a test tomorrow in a class that I didn't buy the book for, but the prof said that 75% of the test is from notes, and I find the material pretty easy, so I think I might be able to wing it. Also, it's multiple choice and if I do horribly bad I will buy the book.
If I do badly though, I feel like I have quite a fall from "grace" because I have always been until now, and excellent student. Super Duper lazy lately.

Basically, when I graduate we get to buy a bigger house, so I should have enough motivation, and I am really into my Major classes, just not those pesky GenEd classes.
I have always loved school, and hopefully I will bounce back soon. Thanks for the input. It's always nice to get other perspectives on things.
