this is why...

I don't put any faith in two-party systems. the democrats rarely, if ever, represent REAL change. it's just business as usual in the corporatocracy.

I'm not overly thrilled. But

I'm not overly thrilled. But Biden much much better than Evan Bayh, so mostly I'm relieved... And I came to deeply dislike Clinton (although I felt somewhat better after her concession speech which I thought *very* good but she burned a lot of bridges for me during the campaign. Not that she started with a whole lot of bridges that were intact, as far as I was concerned!) so I was relieved on that front too, apologies to Clinton supporters.

But overall, I agree, it's not a very inspiring pick. And I do think somewhat ironic, given Biden's articulate comment.

But you know, while I like Obama, am a supporter, and will vote for him, neither he nor any of the other "front-runners" were ever progressive enough for me. No one ever will be, really. Unless we get serious about having more than 2 parties and make substantial changes in the process to make that happen.

I wrote something super negative about politics and politicians here. But thought seeing as you were upset it really wasn't appropriate to bring my school of thought and crassness to something you feel strongly about. so let me say, I am sorry you feel this way, and I can even add my little dig in here. Yes, that guy is a jerk.

i'm

actually doing the happy dance about this one. of all the names being bandied about, i much prefer biden. i'm actually excited. for the first time since clinton-gore in '92. i think this is a winning ticket. provided the GOP doesn't steal this one again. which they will. sigh.

who were you hoping for?

I'm with you

But I hope they win. Fingers crossed that this is the ticket that can sway the American public back to the (center) Left.

I have no idea

who I would have liked him to pick. And I hope Biden helps him win. I'm disappointed, that's all. My kid wasn't around last night and I was pretty profoundly upset about this, thanks to a little white wine, so thanks for not attacking my dramatic reaction, Pattycakes. I appreciate it.

Today, I am resigned to the reality of politics again. I hope that this choice doesn't piss off black folks who really see hope in obama's campaign. I hope Biden gets up to speed on why you don't describe black folks as "clean".

here's some reactions from black folks blogging, if you are interested:

well I talk to black people offline as well

and I don't hear any black folks threatening to not vote, or to vote for mccain, because Obama chose Biden.

yeah, I am not thrilled

I was still hoping for Hillary or Gore. But, Hillary's campaign made some racist gaffes, too.

He is a good debater and comes up with some good zingers, but apparently the GOP has already assembled some he came up with against Obama in the primaries. I hope that the fact his son is in Iraq makes a difference. None of Mitt Romeny's five sons enlisted.

Hell, at least he is better than Lieberman.

Interesting read

http://www.laweekly.com/2008-08-21/news/obama-v-baldilocks/

edit to add....not trying to Obama bash (I'm voting for him) just found this story really interesting. I'm also interested in the fact that voting race is not always a slam dunk here in L.A. She seems like quite a vocal member of her community in South Central.

edit to add add....I hope the above did not come out weird? I'm so paranoid of writing something here that comes out weird?
