Haven't seen too much lately with school and work but a few I liked:
Death at a Funeral: I don't think I've laughed this hard in ages.
Broken English: with Parker Posey, love her in anything. Good movie.

For the kiddies:
National Velvet: It was on the other day and I sat and watched it with Ava, she loved it and sat through the whole thing. I may try some more old flicks with her. TCM channel does a Saturday night classic movie night designed for kids. Too bad I won't pay for that channel Smile
Knuffle Bunny and other stories: I just love these books and to see them transformed onto the screen was pretty cool. Both my girls loved it.
So, mamas, whatcha watchin....

miss gorightry!

that was my mickey rooney impression, you like?? i loved 'once' too, i thought it was such a beautiful movie. did you see their oscar acceptance speeches? i cried because they were both just so gracious and sincerely earnest; it's rare to see that these days.

anyway, i haven't even seen any new movies lately. lame, huh? it seems like i watch 'the royal tenenbaums', 'me and you and everyone we know', and 'juno' over and over again. i love those movies!! monkeygirl won't really watch anything that isn't animated, so she pretty much watches 'finding nemo' and 'toy story.' awesome movies.

Hey, at least you are not

Hey, at least you are not subjected to Cinderella and the Little Mermaid...we have finally moved away from that stage! The Royal T's is one of my all time faves.

New movies

I recently saw Barrio Cuba, which I think is a worthwhile movie. Also Namesake and Juno are also wonderful movies. I think those two really bring some interesting ideas to light about the thoughts and motivations of America's younger generations.

Perhaps too serious, you can always go for some classics. I love Matilda, or if you like older movies Arsenic and Old Lace is wonderful too.

I read Namesake when I was

I read Namesake when I was pregnant with A and I would like to see the movie, too. Juno is one of my favorites, too. I'll have to check out Barrio Cuba. Thanks!

I recently saw

recently being in the last 3 weeks...
Semi Pro - don't bother! it was pretty bad.
The New Indiana Jones movie - loved it!
Sex and the City - saw it with my 3 girlfriends, we really enjoyed that.
And lately I have really been in the mood to see Elizabeth (with Cate Blanchet), the 1st one. I still need to see the sequel, but I really love the 1st one. I figure I should watch that one again before watching the 2nd.

I loved the first Elizabeth

I loved the first Elizabeth and hopefully when I'm done with this class, I'd like to do a marathon Elizabeth day, too.

Haven't seen too many movies

Haven't seen too many movies lately, at least nothing that knocked my socks off. Let's see....
The Savages- It was okay, some funny parts. It was kinda sweet and sad, too. But it wasn't great, just okay.
Aqua Teen Hunger Force- What can you say, it's ATHF, nuff said!
The Will Farrell movie where he owns a basketball team in the 70s, can't think of the name. It was actually better than his other recent movies to me, if you like Will Farrell. Not hilarious, but good for some mindless entertainment.

DH is supposed to rent me The Other Boylen (sp?) Girl for tonight, yay! Hope it's good. And I am playing hookey tomorrow from work and we are having a movie day! We're going to see The Happening and The Strangers, can't wait! We haven't been to the movies since before the babe was born. We used to watch soooooo many movies, love all kinds. I'm really looking forward to The Happening, I love M. Night Shamalyn (sp?), even though his last few movies have gotten nothing but hate from the critics, I loved them. I want to see Once, too, so that on the rental list.

my recents -

Man From Plains - a fabulous doc about Jimmy Carter by Jonathan Demme. highly recommended, esp if you know nothing about carter and think you don't give a rat's.

the Roman Polanski Doc on HBO - hits theaters in july. really interesting in-depth look at the criminal case, as told by the lawyers and detectives and the victim herself. although it does assume the viewer already know a bit about the manson murders and the rape itself, which is kinda odd imo.

In Brugge - watching it right now and kinda loving it. such a beautiful setting, and who doesn't love an irish brogue?

toy story - uugh. i wanna smack BD for bringing this one to the attention of DD.
