it's 8:00 here on the east coast; monkeygirl is fast asleep after reading 'if you give a moose a muffin' (twice!). i am relaxing with a yuuuummmmy cocktail while i read about what all you other mamas have been up to, and i wanted to share the recipe with you all so you can try it for yourselves! i promise you'll love it--

cut the fruit from two ripe cantaloupes into small cubes and put the pieces in a big jar with a lid (preferably the kind with a push-spout at the bottom for easy pouring later!). pour in a bottle of vodka; the cheap kind is fine- i used jenkins! refigerate it all for about ten days. the juice from the cantaloupe will be drawn out into the vodka and will make the sweetest, yummiest summer drink ever! drink it on the rocks with some fresh basil to really enjoy the flavor, but don't forget that no matter how sweet it is, it's still pure vodka! one is all i really recommend, unless the kids are out of town and the party is at your place.... in which case, can i stop by??

i originally got this recipe from 'boston' magazine a couple years ago but never actually made it until my best friend's bachelorette party a couple weeks ago. we didn't finish it all so the leftovers are in my fridge to enjoy as the nights get warmer and warmer. cheers to all the mamas!!
