Has anybody out there sewn cloth diapers?

I'm not actually a mother yet.
I was pregnant in december and january but it was a ¨blighted ovum¨ which sounds like a corn disease if you ask me.
Anyway one of the first things i started thinking about was cloth diapers when i found out i was pregnant. I am a crafty lady and i have sewn my own cloth menstrual pads. So i thought that i could save money and recycle fabric by sewing my own. I was worried because i thought eight short nauseated months (i had really bad morning sickness when i was pregnant) wouldn't be too much time to get the project done.
But now that this first pregnancy hasn't worked out it looks like i will have more time, so I have been looking at the internet at free patterns and whatnot, but there are so many possibilities that it is a little overwhelming. So i was wondering if anybody out there has done it and what patterns they used... If you think a "one size fits most" could be an ok idea or if fitted is better...
Anyway I sort of need this project to kind of keep the dream alive and reaffirm that i really believe that my baby will come to me in its own time. And i am a pretty dedicated do-it-yourselfer, and it's always nice to get tips and supports.
So what's the word crafty mamas?
