And I think Kate Moennig is an incredible actress, much better than her first cousin Gwyneth Paltrow (but she gets all the attention I think because her mother was Blythe Danner, one of the most respected female actors of the century). Here's a little youtube tribute to Kate (Shane) that I thought was cute- some of the creepy fan stuff out there kind of freaks me out, I really don't get folks who are obsessed with celebrities, so don't get me wrong here.... but I think I want to be Shane. It's an excellent show, really well done and pretty darn original- it's definitely helped me have the confidence to come out as bi, so it's more than just a show to me really.... I'm almost done the second season, I just downloaded them all! Problem is I stay up until 2 in the am watching it on school nights!!!!! Enjoy! and does offer a way for women to break gender rules and be themselves in the world. i also like th fact that her deep struggles with intimacy are portrayed, instead of a celebration of promiscuity. what's great is how sexy she is in a totally unconventional and to me, very androgenous way....really defies any stereotype Shane and Marina = my downfall. I haven't checked out the most recent season (because I prefer my L-Word in marathon form, I can't handle the suspense.) Creatress honey, we were separated at birth... I love Marina and I,too can only watch L word marathon-style. Birdie, If you think season two was good... season three is white hot.
I am so flattered to hear you say that, Dreaming. Because a girlfriend who knew I was debating coming out brought it over (so I could feel more normal I guess) and it worked! But I'm kind of upset now that I know that a certain person dies (I think, I guessed) and I can see how you would like the earlier seasons more. I felt so bad for Marina...... Jenny is so great in the early episodes with her writing and coming out and everything.... but she turns into such a spoiled bitch in Season 4!!! What's with that??? I guess she's sticking up for herself, and she is kind of funny, but I thought it was a bit much. Anyhow, nice to chat with you ladies about it!!! I also download everything so I can do ridiculous marathons.... because I also can't wait that long.... but I'm sad that it will be over before I blink the way I plow through these at the rate of 2 episodes a night!! |
Hehe, yeah, as the seasons go on, it gets a little crazier. What was the last season? Not the current one, but the last one? That was...kinda nuts.
The L Word is a great show that has such a strong emphasis on relationships. I have watched them all and I am thrilled that there will be atleast one more season!
