SON: Big hug!!
(hugs mom)
MOM: (sleepily) Hmm? G'morning. (yawns) So this is the first thing you choose to say this morning?
SON: Well I love you!
MOM: I love you, too, sweetie!
SON: I'm sorry you broke your foot.
MOM: Aw, it'll be alright
(SON rubs MOM's foot)
SON: I'll make it better with my love.
MOM: Thanks, honey! I'm sure it'll get better just because you love me.
SON: Yeah, because love makes everything better. Without love, the world couldn't even be alive. I love everybody. I love you and I hope your foot gets better.
MOM: Did someone feed you unicorns and rainbows for breakfast?
Okay, I made that last line up, but I thought it would be funny anyway. I'm pleasantly pleased that my six year old son feels things like empathy, hope, and love. He's such an optimist, and a very cool guy! How'd I get so lucky?
