Tax Rebates
We got way more than I expected on our tax returns, so most of our debt, etc. will be caught up, leaving me more options with this rebate. Not sure where I'll use it yet, but want to have my mind made up before it gets here so I don't blow it on bullshit.
What are your plans for your rebate money?

Since we have finally gotten out of debt, too, and have been buying everything with cash - haven't used a credit card in years - we are upgrading our 7 year old 20 inch tube-boob to a more modern 36 inch flat screen. And I'm also getting a cabinet to hide it in because while I do love me some great TV (The Office, Bones, and a few other programs), I also like not having the TV be The Center of our living room attention. I am envisioning a nice modern TV hide-away cabinet.

Ikea has a couple of nice ones at what i have seen to be the lowest prices.
used would be awesome, too, if only we had a truck!

As for my rebate, had all sorts of plans for either a vacation or 1/3 to debt, 1/3 savings, 1/3 spend on whatever we want--how fun! but now the van has died I think it will all go towards a new car.
Car maintenance....womp womp womp.
Anything left over will go into savings for house downpayment.

on a business computer. Can you believe the hubby let me do that just because it is a write off? I am still waiting for the other shoe to drop on that one.
Now I have to move my ENTIRE home office/sewing room from one floor to the other, rewire a couple of outlets, run ethernet...feeling a bit overwhelmed.
Hope this doesn't put me into the loss category next year.
spend it on:
bills
getting out of loans
two tattoos
and some clothes for the three of us.
wish me luck!
hearts and happy spending (we all deserve this!),

We had some emergencies come up over the winter that we paid for with the credit card. So now we're paying that off before the interest part kicks in! We paid off a grand last month; six more to go... So the whole tax refund is going towards that and we'll have a few more months of tossing money at it until it goes away.
What I want to do:
1. Buy some brand new and cute patio furniture
2. a nice bbq
3. a porch swing
4. some jewelery
5. a thrifty vacation
6. donate all my shoes and buy some nice new ones
7. remodel upstairs, add some dormer windows and make this house a full 2 story; add a spa bathroom up there.
8. Repaint the kitchen and master bedroom as well as the entire upstairs.
I guess that all would exceed the tax return, huh? I could do all of it except number 7 I think; I'm a thrifty gal.

.
paint - 60$
patio set - 300$
65 in pearl strand 100$
matching earrings 125$
porch swing - 200$
3-4 pairs of shoes that didn't come from payless 50-70$ each
cheap vacation... about 1000$?
I could do it. and still take care of some cc debt.
.aka our typical family vacations.
I did my taxes at the end of January, but when I get that stupid "free money" on 5/9, it will be $1200 and $1000 of it is going to my kids' school but that won't really touch the tuition that ex and I have fallen behind on. I'll let myself spend the other on whatever money is needed for - whether I decide it should be indulging or for food and gas I'm not sure, it will depend on the need of the moment.

I desperately need a lawnmower as the lawncare doods cost too much and my grass grows too fast...but I hate to actually spend money on one, mostly because I'm a cheap/lazy bastard-ette.
