Music!
I'm ready to listen to something different so tell me what you think I should check out. I'm open to most music but not interested in slow and depressing, country or opera.
Thanks in advance!

Vampire Weekend. and M.I.A. and Kimya Dawson.
Some favorite hidden gems: Gomez. Griddle. Owsley.
There is an AWESOME girl on YouTube called ReinaDelCid. She's got lots to listen too, and she's very good.
Um, if you want a really long list: Maroon 5's Songs About Jane(just really awesome). Buena Vista Social Club(this guy was kept out of Cuba for ages, and he just wanted to jam with some musicians there). Reel Big Fish (Loud and brassy punk-ska. I've heard every style of music in the changes in their songs). Owsley (they are the beatles reincarnated with good story-song lyrics). Regina Spektor is a unique piano chick. On the weirder side, Devandra Banhart's got really interesting stuff.
You know, if I want to listen to different albums I might buy, I go to amazon and listen to sample tracks.
Personally I recently re-discovered: Sting and the Police, The Dream of the Blue Turtles is a great album; Dave Matthews, their Central Park Concert boxed set has some really cool guest artists.
Don't be too afraid to be yourself. The alternative is always worse.
check out jay raetard, the king kahn and bbq show, dungen, os mutantes, m.i.a., obsession compilation, dengue fever, blitzen trapper...
what do you normally listen to?
Nellie McKay (pronounced MicEye) is my all-time favorite chick music---really jazzy and upbeat. The Magnetic Fields, Gothic Archies, or Future Bible Heroes (all led by the amazing Stephen Meritt) are full of silly-witty lyrics. Can't go wrong with Belle and Sebastian. Nina Simone has been getting me moving lately. Yael Naim has a gorgeous voice. And the Dresden Dolls are always fun. These are on the "most played" list on my ipod these days.
