so, on sunday i get to participate in Wonder Woman Day 2 (etta, i am thinking of you...).

it's a silent auction of original wonder woman art benefiting my agency and 2 domestic violence shelters during domestic violence awareness month (did you know its dv awareness month? i should have posted about that october 1st, darn it).

so, i made a facebook event for it and was poking around and found the website of the organizer who i have been emailing/talking on the phone with for about a month.

i can not wait to meet this guy

here is his mannequin:

i am so going to this. it's not that far a drive for me.... i have no cash though, which is sort of the point. i wonder if i can pledge cash and pay later. this is so cool, i wish i knew earlier, i would have budgeted.

well we went.

and the shit they had there was so cool that i actually used some of our food money to buy tickets for some prize drawings. but, the items that dd loved most were among the least popular, so our chances of her winning them are very good. (she is really into the classic 1940's style WW with teh curls and the skirt).

dd was not in the greatest of moods, because she was embarrassed of a bad rash on her face. but she wanted to go anyway to see all the stuff. there was this cool artist there, who she was too shy to talk to, so i had to ask him about his work and let her listen. he was really good, actually, and experienced with kids enough to know that i was really asking for her benefit, and he took out his sketch book and showed her what he likes to draw.

so it was a nice experience. they gave her a heroclix for free, i presume because they could tell she was really into WW and having a really bad day.

thanks for letting me know about this. i'm happy to support the organization, and i think it's a fabulous way to do it.
