Lead found in baby bibs from China - is anyone else wondering what is up with all the lead and toxins coming in from China?
Speaking of China: Mass recall of childrens toys made in China by Mattel and Fisher Price. -
Although some of the toys were recalled because of lead paint, most items in today's recall have small, high-powered magnets or magnetic parts that can be dislodged and swallowed or breathed in by young children.
These include 7.3 million Polly Pocket play sets, 1 million Doggie Day Care toys, and 683,000 Barbie and Tanner play sets, among other toys sold in retail stores nationwide. A child who swallows more than one magnet can suffer intestinal blockage or tearing when the magnets are attracted to one another inside the body. These conditions can be fatal. The Consumer Product Safety Commission reports that several children have been injured by swallowing the magnets, and one child had to undergo surgery to remove an intestinal blockage.
