hey biker - this is a baby for christ's sakes! i remember back in the day when i had my son and i would let him go into a pool/ocean naked! people flipped! it's not her outfit that's wrong, it's the twisted way people view it. thanks for posting about this. take care, dc space age disco healer In essence I agree, but the outfit wouldn't exist if it weren't for the way people view it (and women's/girls bodies) - they're intricately connected, and that's the dilemna I think. women who gets a little bit anxious when I see young girls in what I consider to be grown-up, possibly sexulized clothing. I worry about little girls being seen as sex objects by yucky "old" men (or women). HOWEVER, this is a super complex topic, and I haven't thought it through well, or discussed it enough to understand what my role as a mother (and daughter) should be. Do we wear burkas? Do we dance naked in the streets? Clearly there's a lot of middle ground in between the two, and a lot of pros and cons to both extremes. So I'm not one to easily judge another on this topic. I only wish for myself, that as I raise my daughter, I can teach her to fearlessly glorify and enjoy her physical being, while also keeping a radar alert for innapropriate exploitation - whatever that means. . . That said, your daughter is adorable. I think I have my own issues though. I almost prefer a little girl with no top then a string bikini. I wouldn't give dirty looks, but I wouldn't dress my daughter in one. That doesn't make it WRONG. Just personal preference. And Mecah IS ADORABLE!
and how funny that the other day the chicklet was naked playing in our wading pool, and our nieghbor came home and commented "ooo, she's a nature girl." It was the first time I even thought about it!! I don't know why at all, but hey for whats its worth, shes absoloutly adorable and that suit is to die for...very sweet, pink is her colour! She is a DOLL. I have to say, I have always thought that little baby girls wearing 2 piece bathing suits was a little wierd... You know, cuz they don't have anything to cover yet. May as well just either put a one piece on or just the bottoms. I dunno, I have 2 boys, who am I to say! That's way too cute. If people are giving you weird looks then they're the ones who obviously have strange issues. Your children are adorable. "Religion is for people who are afraid of hell. Spirituality is for Cute! Screw em'. Mecah looks adorable. Pink is her color too. OMG! People are so insane. It's a very cute outfit. You really got dirty looks? "Nothing is ever easy." I think she looks adorable!! And she's a baby. I'm sure you wouldn't be getting dirty looks if you had her out in just a diaper. But throw on a bikini top and oh no... you must be a terrible mom! It's not like you've got an 8 year old in a thong (which they do make). Ridiculous!! |
well, i think this bathing suit was too over the top outrageous to be controversial, i mean the top is a mass of pink poufs, so much so that she looks like a birthday cake. but, i can see what some of you mean about the creepy old men. it's a children's wading pool, and i have yet so see any old men, not even any grandpas. but, i have pretty accurate creepy man radar and appreciate the reminder
