i haven't been able to log onto hipmama is a long time, not sure why. I have missed you ladies a whole bunch and am looking forward to catching up on everyone's lives.

what is new with me? well let's see. The Saucette is a lightening fast crawler, can say 'mama' and is starting to pull herself up and walk with support. Sauce jr is up to all sorts of mischief and hilarity. He got a brand new big boy bike, might need to get glasses and has started asking a lot of intense questions about death. I have been doing a lot of gardening and silkscreening but mostly child rearing really. Read some books, sewed some stuff, canned up a bunch of rhubarb.

so yeah, what is up with y'all?

Nice to hear from you!

I'm sewing more and trying to parent less. Also, getting around with no car by choice. Fun!

My kid Sophie is big into death as am I so it makes for a lot of freakish conversations.

i am loving some of the death conversations, grisly and macabre! the 'do skeletons have hair?' and 'do your eyes die at the same time as your face?' type of stuff. The heartbreaking "I will miss you when you die. We won't be together anymore!" complete with the quivering lower lip and big sad eyes is kind of heavy.

I am trying to parent less and sew more too!

Sophie:

"First you're a baby, then a kid. Then you are a grownup. Then you die and turn into a skeleton. Then you turn into dust."

Last Thanksgiving as she and I napped together in the loft of our lake log cabin, I woke up to hear her whisper in her sleep, "What's after dust?"

She is also big into Jesus too. I think sauce jr. is the same?

"what's after dust?" damn

"what's after dust?" damn that is heavy! and deep. Sauce jr believes in re-incarnation or something similar because he has made many mentions of 'the next life' where he and I will be re-united after death.

he is big into jesus too, but only the baby jesus who is always being rescued by spiderman from kidnapping attempts.

Yay! Glad to see you round these parts.

You're awesome Saucer.
Nothing much here. Same ole' same 'ole. My friend just had her baby, so I'm cooking up a storm for her family, studying for finals, trying to knit some mittens, finishing some diaper covers, working on potty training, searching for a new house...and getting the kid all set for daycare! whoo hoo!
