Ok I stepped up and offered myself
in service to women.
I walked up and rang the doorbell of the Madison House Maternity House that I have walked and driven by for 2 years now and wondered about and I am about to graduate and so I walked up and rang the bell. I just finished my Public Health rotation and fell in L-O-V-E with that kind of work so I decided to take the plunge. I asked the woman who answered the bell what they do there. She told me they were a (religiously run) house for young pregnant mothers in transition. The mom's lived there together and worked on various issues of their lives until they could transition out onto their own. I offered my services as a new *almost* graduate nurse who wants to volunteer.
AND they jumped on my offer!!!!!!!
I am a little freaked now, what the fuck am I going to do with my brain, a stethoscope and a blood pressure cuff? I gotta find someone to sorta check in with for the stuff that I don't know the answers to....

That's wonderful. Way to be bold, mama.
***the United States is one of only four out of 168 countries studied to not have some form of paid family leave for new moms. We join Swaziland, Papua New Guinea, and Lesotho in not having that policy in place. ***
Good footwork!
