DD's first surgery
just got ot of Dornbecker after long ordeal that started with "mama my tummy hurts, carry me to the bathroom I feel like I'm going to throw up..." I figured it out pretty quickly- it was appendecitis and the x-rays and CAT scan were not definitive because she was too thin for the contrast to contrast. she was a champ in coping with the pain from the enema that was needed tho... better than the adults that I work with! We rode over in an ambulance from the Kaiser ER to the Dornbecker ER and Zoe's main surgeron was great. She was in a LOT of pain afterward, she had an open appendectomy not a laproscopic, and she was really emotional from the narcotics. Now that we are home she is doig much better. Hospitals are very tiring places to live for a couple days, very different than when I am working. The staff were great and her surgons were really nice. One of them was an acondroplastic dwarf which I thought was cool, she really liked him. anyway, that's it, I just wanted to record the experience on my blog.

Many, many happy, healthy healing vibes to dd. Sounds like she was amazing; unbelievable how strong these little beings are, isn't it? Glad she is home now and hope her recovery is smooth. Hugs to her.

Good that you caught it before it ruptured! I'm sure it's a relief (fpr all of you) to be home again.
You're definately right about it being a tiring experience. My couple times being on the other side of the healthcare experience have really made me more compasionate when I'm dealing with my patients and their parents.
nice call, mama. glad you caught it before it ruptured. i know exactly what you mean about hospitals being very tiring places to live for a couple of days. it's way more than being really tired, or physically tired, it's emotionally tiring, too. feel better little jubas, and get some rest.
"this, too, shall pass."
She is lucky to have such a smart mom who knows all about this stuff. Swift recovery vibes to your DD.
