Captain Kirk and the Hermaphrodite
So, I was cleaning this house the other day. My client used to live in Venice, CA, and she's a filmmaker, so she's seen some weird stuff. She said that a few years ago, she had a gay (boy) friend come for a visit, so she placed a craigslist ad for a short-term date for him during his stay. (Hey, if I came to visit one of you mamas, would yuo fix me up like this?). Anyway, one of the respondents was a hermaphrodite. At the time, s/he was male-indentified, but s/he had been raised female, and had spent the early part of hir adult life as a female. Somewhere along the line, this was in the kinky 70's, while trying to make it in the film industry, s/he turned to sex work as a way to pay the bills. S/he became very popular, because s/he was a chick with a dick. No, literally. Amongst hir, uh, clients, was William Shatner, the kinky fuck. And s/he got passed around among the Hollywood kinksters, as a sex freak.
S/he never made it in the movies. And, as s/he got older, s/he essentially experienced a delayed male puberty, started growing facial hair, and couldn't pass as a girl anymore. So, hir business dropped off (I guess s/he didn't think to aim for the "guy with a pie" market.)
When my client met hir, s/he was trying to peddle hir memoirs. I don't think s/he made the cut for the date with my client's friend.

That's a lot of detail for someone to go into in response to a personal ad- especially if they didn't make the cut! I wonder if that's true about William Shatner. You'd think if this person was trying to sell his/her memoir that it would be a pretty hot comodity if the claims could be even half-way verified.
I'd have to say that if it IS true about captain kirk then I think it actually makes me like him more- makes him more interesting anyways.
about liking him more..well as long as this person was getting something out of it worthwhile.
this would be a fun post.

'cuz for whatever weird reason, i took a disliking to william shatner years ago. today, though, it was brought to my attention backchannel, and having read it, i feel compelled to ask, why is this funny? i'm asking because in my context, intersexed folks are, ya know, people, not punchlines, and folks bent in whichever way are, too. given placentamom's respectful pronoun choice, i'm not sure she posted to elicit laughs, but laughs followed. is it 'cuz shatner's such a ridiculous figure and that just happens to bleed over on to the intersexed and kinked people mentioned? is 'cuz - well, i can't think of anything else. anyone? bueller? though i didn't comment i laugh at anything related to william shattner just the image of his face makes me laugh. i could care less who he is attracted to that isn't funny. now someone being attracted to HIM is funny.he hasselhoff share the same space in my mind for whatever reason they remind me of each other. maybe just the ridiculousness of them both. remember that ooga chaka video my what the hell was that even about. ok i have no clue where i am going with this anymore.

but I was definitely disgusted to a smirk when I read the part about William Shatner being a "kinky fuck". I mean, I am disgusted by the thought of him in general and I don't even want to think about his exposed parts and whatever 'kinkiness' he is engaging in.
I can't think about this anymore cause I am feeling sick to my stomach. I can't say why the man grosses me out, but I find him one of the most revolting human beings ever.
All of that said, I don't think we should be making fun of this person. It sounds like hir life has been so difficult that I can't even imagine and I don't want to add to that.

I think it's more about the ridiculousness of Mr. Shatner (if you've seen any of his other "work"--the movie in Esparanto, i.e.--you know what I mean), and the knowledge that there's a large body of Kirk/Spock homo-erotic literature, while Cap't Kirk is SUPPOSED to be such a macho, lady-killing character (and I think Shatner would never cop to being anything other than Kirk-like in his appetite for women, KWIM?).
Maybe it's the shudder of realization that the ickiness I always associated with Kirk is justified. Not in the form of seeing the intersexed person as icky, but in the mental image I now have of Shatner drooling over the thought of gettin' it on with a "chick with a dick".
And, let's face it, the image of Shatner gettin' it on at all is kinda funny. EEEEwwwwww!
