But most of the Putamayo Kids collections are pretty cool. They are collectively dubbed "Bird lala" by my mysterious boy. We listen to a lot of bands that I like that my kid also enjoys--They Might be Giants are cool, and we also listen to Beat Happening together a lot.
I just test drove this cd on a room full of toddlers, and they were all jumping up and down. My alternative co-worker was also digging it, and of course I love it since I'm a fan of hard rock & metal:

we just listened to the sound bites and she dug, "the ants go marching" and "three blind mice".

My kids like Paul Simon's Graceland, East Coast sea shanty type music, stories on tape (great when you are just tired of music all together) and pretty much anything I play enough times.

I can't believe that I'm even suggesting this, but there are some really good putumayo cds for kids: african playground, reggae playground, world playground, folk playground... you get the idea, any of the putumayo cds that have playground in the title are for kids.
I actually like them a lot, but where I work the ONLY cds we can play are putumayo, so even thought there are like 30 ot 40 and we have them all - I can't stand putumayo!
But I will suggest them.
