I finally finished Everything is Illuminated...two thumbs up.
Then I re-read a book from my childhood, Bridge to Teribithia. I remembered nothing but then when I got to the climax I remembered exactly what was going to happen...meanwhile, I don't remember things I read last week.
On that note, I am re-reading another book, Chinua Achebe's Things Fall Apart.
reading Summerland, which was interesting but not spectacular. Now I'm rereading Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood, because that is completely spectacular and I need the distraction right now.
"Ordinary Wolves" by Seth Kantner - I just finished it, an amazing story about a boy growing up in the Alaskan wilderness, and a great look at the paradoxical nature of civilization. Also, "Having Faith" by Sandra Steingraber - actually I read this a long time ago but picked it up again because she is coming to town for a lecture soon and she is my hero. Its a combination of beautifully written inteligent essays on pregnancy and nursing, with alternating sections on the hard-core science behind the chemical/global ecology of pregnancy and nursing. A little tech-weeny, but still lovely (like me!)
I can't wait to get my hands on some more of her books. Which one did you *not* like so I can avoid it. I don't need anymore disappoinment in my life right now *grin*.
“Start at the beginning and move towards hope - P. McKillip.
I liked it just not as much as the others. Changeling Sea was really fabulous and so was Ombria in Shadow. Nice easy read, fantastic story. If you want to do a book swap I'll send you one of them. I am looking for something new now.

I'm reading "How full is your bucket?" It's a good thought and I've been trying to fill other peoples "buckets" a lot this week. "Life may not be the party we hoped for but while we're here we might as well dance".- Maya Angelou
