For LarueParker
Tomorrow my little "assistant" will be working with me in the office:
Are things going any better for you with your little one at work?
It looks like you have a lot of space! I will have to show you what I am working with- its kind of sad!
Thanks for posting this, mama. Unfortunately, things are actually getting harder! He is close to 7 mos. now so he is just all over the place.
You know how that is. He isn't crawling yet or anything, but he is very *grabby*. Grabby and gabby(and I don't think I have a mute button on my phone)! The thing is, my office is set up all stupid. I just have to change it, really. I should get my ass in there on a Saturday and do that. But for now, I have asked my mom to watch him 2 days a week so I can get some work done. If that still doesn't cut it and my stress doesn't go down, I asked DH to quit his teaching job for the next few yrs. and come back to work WITH me until B is in preschool. I know that sounds pretty drastic, but I really can't think of anything better right now. And it IS his dad's company. So we will just have to see.
I do need to get a highchair in there and a walker or stationary excersaucer or something. Right now, all I have is the bouncy seat and a swing. He naps in the swing and I carry him around in the sling the rest of the time. Needless to say, I have gotten very good at one-hand typing and peeing with him strapped to my torso. I also have a pack n' play thing, but he refuses to be in there. I really hope I can work this out. I know it is such a blessing to be able to take your babe to work with you, but I do think that I had a very romantic notion of the whole idea...and I was sadly disappointed and oh so very wrong!
Anyway, thank you so much. Thanks for checking in with me- I really appreciate it! ***HUGS***

Yeah - we have the swinging chair and a exersaucer in a closet somewhere since she outgrew them. Each stage seems to have pros/cons. The biggest issue for me now is that she can really wreck havoc in an instant.
I remember that stage as being kind of tough. Here are a couple of ideas:
- A johnny jump up chair for the doorway.
- We also have a Little Tykes Garden that I got off Craigslist that I would HIGHLY recommend. It has lots of stuff to hold their interest - a door, an arch to crawl through, veggeies, a mail box, etc. I think I paid $20 for it. Totally worth it!
- A highchair or a worksurface-attached chair works great. We have done play dough and shaving creme at it.
- A bubble machine.
I agree that I had no clue, really, about the reality of how hard it would be to have her here with me. It does get better. Really.
