Hair Do Advice
So, I haven't had my hair cut/colored professionally in about a year due to a tight budget and lack of finding an awesome stylist (some of you may remember my shitty mommy mullet I accidentally got when I first joined hipmama). But, I'm finally going to invest in a do' that I love, but I'm not quite sure what I'm going to go with and need some ideas. I want something low-key and classic.
Here's what it looks like now:

And here's something sort of a long the lines that I want (except maybe longer with a few highlights):
I've got stick straight hair, and try to wear my hair wavy most of the time but it just takes sooo long, so I figured I might as well just get a permanent. But, SO is against the curly hair thing. Anyone have any experiences with going curly from straight?
i do the opposite! except my hair isn't really either curly or straight, it's just unruly, so i have it straightened. you are so cute!

I've never had good outcomes with perms & my hard is so straight. However, highlights add some texture & help it look fuller...also, if done right, you only need to go a few times a year for more. The cut looks cute, maybe just some slightly lighter than your natural hair color highlights.

Really, I wish my hair looked that good without styling. My opinion realy is that perms are a bad idea for most people--have you put it in curlers to see how you like it? Maybe some layering to add volume and streaks or highlights. Show afters!

My theorey on my own hair is this:
Anything that I do I will ultimatly get bored with and regret and want something else. So, if I am going to feel that way, than I might as well leave my hair alone, do absoloutly nothing to it, and then at least it will be all natural, soft, no roots, no chemical damage, no split ends, the color won't dull out, the texture won't fry out and get all frizzy and show all that breakage.
I get compliments on my hair weekly by diffrent people. And the ironic thing is I had to finaly leave it alone and spend no money on it to get it to look good and make other people envious.
Perms are *really* bad for hair, I mean as baaaaad. I have never known anyone to perm their hair and get exactly the look they had hoped for, and it always seems to grow out funky and/or change the texture of the hair-permanently until the all the hair is cut off your head.
I can't make you belive that you look fabulous now, so much in fact, I was like, 'Wow, she's so pretty!' I don't think I'd like you with wavy hair as much. Buy some hot rollers, and put a ton of gel in your hair, then blowdry it and leave the hot rollers in, you'll get the same effect as up above.
I bought some old school hot rollers at a thrift store last week and have been having entirely too much fun "trying out" new do's. Your picture reminded me of them.
I agree, your hair is pretty dang foxy already!

The black color isn't actually my natural color, I'm normally a dishwater blonde/ash brown (those are such insulting names for hair color), but I was thinking of going a dark brown with some really subtle blonde highlights, but maybe I'll go the way of the shade lighter.
