Bunkbeds?

Hi all-

We are moving soon. The girls will continue to share a room. The bedrooms in the new house are pretty small so I think some sort of bunk bed, or loft bed would be great as far as saving space.

Does anyone have bunkbeds? Does movement on the top (getting up and down) wake up the sleeper on the bottom?

Any reccomendations?

Thanks mamas.

how old are your girls?

I think safety recommendations are to wait until children are 6 before using bunkbeds.

That is the end of my limited knowledge on bunkbeds Laughing out loud

Thanks for the safety info.

Thanks for the safety info. The one who will be on the top will be 5 in a few weeks (gasp!!). I think she would be fine in it - shes pretty calm (wouldnt try to jump off) and we would get one with sturdy sides so she couldn't roll off. I would want to get one that wasnt too high, too.

Bunks bite

It sucks to put sheets on bunkbeds. Have you thought about futon mattresses you can roll up and put away for more play space in the morning?

Agreed. They suck. We do

Agreed. They suck. We do have one, or we wouldn't have room for all the boys to sleep, but they realy, really suck. I cannot express to you what a pain in the ass it is to put sheets on the top bunk.

I think changing that bottom

I think changing that bottom sheet would be a pain in the ass though.... how could you lift up the mattress to get the corners on if you have to be sitting on it?

How about a trundle bed?

That is what my sis and I had.

We were just thinking about

We were just thinking about that with our boys but I KNOW one will push in the trundle part on the other.... they are just that crazy...

The thing I don't like about

The thing I don't like about the trundle bed is that one doesnt really have their own space. Thanks for the idea though.

Yes, that is what we were

Yes, that is what we were thinking about the trundle. Would be nice to just slide the other bed in in the daytime so there is extra room.

Pain in the ass... sorta

but if you have no space then its worth it.
My kids room is so small two beds just wouldn't fit.
My older son loves sleeping up there. Its like his own private loft.
Spacewise its really really worth it. As for the sheets and all I am willing to make the sacrifice; also my top one matresse is foam so like Gigi said, its more bendable.
