i guess i would like some ideas or sources for info on family sleeping arrangements... i'm due in a few months... the boy and i sleep in a double bed that sits up very high-- a cool old iron bed frame... our house is old too with tiny-ass bedrooms... anyway, the step-mother-in-law is an accomplished wood worker and asked the other day "do you want your crib in cherry or oak?"... she has also offered to make a cradle but that seems weird...
anybody have a "side car" and could she make one of those you think? i like very much the idea of sleeping with the kid and nursing all night and all that but the bed is pretty cozy with just the two of us... i can't even really imagine how it will work once i start getting really big... what works for people?

co-sleeping
Before my daughter was born,I had decided that she would sleep in a crib in our bedroom. I was afraid that if she slept with us, one of us would squish her or something. Well, my daughter had other ideas. She refused to sleep in the crib after we got home from the hospital, and I was fricken exhausted, so I brought her into bed, and we all slept. (As well as a family with a newborn CAN sleep.)
She is 13 months old now, and still sleeping with hubby and me. I like it. You really develop an instinct to know if they are awake, or need you, and you are so aware of them, even in sleep, that you don't squish 'em. Now that she is a little older, she will take naps on the floor with a pillow and blanket, but she has never been down with the crib. Ours is currently a receptacle for clean laundry. :)
