Mister Rogers R.I.P by Bee LavenderMister Rogers R.I.P For the last two years, the only media I have been able to enjoy has been a low budget public television program in rerun: Mister Rogers Neighborhood. The show offered a grounded, civilized view of society; a sense of stability and community; escapism in the form of an imaginary world of puppets; and really interesting field trips to discover how shoes or fig cookies are made. Mr. Rogers and his code of neighborly love offered the only tonic available to my little son when he thought bombs were going to fall on our house. I hope that the show stays on the air for years to come; we all need a little more decency in our lives.
