one of my dearest friends witnessed the unthinkable this week, the death of a child. it was a horrible freak accident where the small 3 year old boy strangled on a series of tree branches. it was a low tree that he played on every day. how can this happen? there is NOTHING godly or right in this. as my friend put it, it was the maw of hell opening up in front of him. i can't stop thinking about it. and at the funeral some fucking idiot pastor told the mother "just think of jesus' suffering." can you FATHOM this? the mother told the pastor to "just get the fuck away." anyways, just keep this family in your thoughts and hold your babies close, close, close. it makes me want to run and hide my children away in a soft, safe, candymouth world.

how awful for that poor mother.

my cousin died when she was five--not an accident, a very sudden illness. i remember someone at the funeral told her not to be sad b/c she had two other children.

honestly, what is wrong wiht people?

A relative of mine had eight sons. One from his wife's first marriage and seven together. Just after Thanksgiving one year, their house burned to the ground ... they saved the dog ... that was it. I lived with my grandparents then and they came and stayed with us while things were being cleaned up. They rebuilt and put in a pool.

Not too long after that the baby, about 2, was supposed to be with the eldest (11) inside. The eldest got distracted (mom was putting wash on the line) and the baby went into the pool. They didn't get to him in time. My great aunt, these kids' grandmother, had the BALLS to ask Kathy, the mother, why she wasn't watching her children properly. She went on to say that she thought the eldest boy (who, remember, isn't this bitch's flesh and blood) did it on PURPOSE .... and she went on to tell everyone this at the funeral.

Kathy's never been the same and neither has the eldest boy. I never ask my kids to watch each other .... probably because of that.

Some people are just mean, vicious, cruel and downright evil to their core. When my grandfather died (this bitch's brother), I had the opportunity, in front of the ENTIRE family (everyone hates her) to tell her off, to her face, with that audience. It was one of the most fabulous moments of my life.

Losing a child must be the worst hell on earth there is.

about two weeks ago my cousin (same age as me) back in my home town witnessed the death of her oldest(8yrs) son. He was driving a 4-wheeler around their newly constructed neighborhood, lots of sand dunes and hills, he lost control and slammed into a brick mailbox stand. He was wearing a helmet but the impact was so much for his little body that his neck snapped. His Mom saw the whole thing. I was not able to attend the funeral as it is 1500 miles away but my sister said it was horrific. The mom kept blaming herself for having argued with the boy before hand. It definitely makes you hold your closer.

It is so tragic when horrible things happen to the innocent. I don't know how I would go on if something ever happened to any of my kids. When I was 10, my Mother and I rounded a corner just in time to witness a car hit a child. He was drug along for several 100 feet as the car tried to stop. My Mom made me get on the floor of our car so I wouldn't see anything. I sat there for the longest time holding a cooked piece of chicken we were taking to my father, wanting to vomit, listening to the cries of the boy's family and the driver of the car. This still haunts us to this day.
