Joan Baez - "Diamonds and Rust"

Now you're telling me
You're not nostalgic
Then give me another word for it
You were so good with words
And at keeping things vague

Cause I need some of the vagueness now
Its all come back too clearly
Yes I loved you dearly
And if you're offering me diamonds and rust
I've already paid

I love this song... it was one of the standards that sophistimicated & I used to do in the stairwell back in The Day...

Nah. I have a Very Big Songbook. Actually we did a couple coffeehouse gigs & did this song for at least one so we had some that were pretty much memorized. Oh, and I did it as a class thing too once. It's not nearly as long a song as it seems, and there's a minimum of fancy fingerwork that (oy the stupid boys) "looks impressive for a girl" (there were a lot of stupid boys around, they all seemed to get very upset when they said things like 'gosh, I don't have the chords written down' and I said 'that's ok, I'll just follow along' and then did just that -- their interest in playing so we could sing along went out the window when they realized that I actually could play most stuff not only better than them, but learn it quicker too. Dorks).

But there is an alarmingly large volume of music that's stuffed into my kinesthetic memory that I can't pull up unless I'm actually in the midst of them... That's one of the fun things with Jaina, we make my brother come over & sing a crapload of songs. It's fun. :)
