returning to hipmama after long time

mamanopajamas's picture

i had come to hipmama a while back (1999) and life got in the way between then & now, but now is now and now i've got new computer {ALL MINE} w/cable modem. What I also have now is new kid -- well, he ain't that new anymore. But he is a HE after 3 shes and the youngest of them is a good 10 yrs older, so it's a whole new game. Plus there's a new Daddy-O to do this with, really great involved Daddy-O vs 1st husband who is still a louse.
well that was all by way of an intro.
i'm embracing this second mommyhood in a new & different way then before, which is funny cause lots of stuff i did years ago when no one else was is all the rage now -- like organic & attachment stuff & nursing.
first time around i was only mommy i knew do the nursing route, now i only know two moms who aren't for different reasons. For me this time being a lactator is different too. the girls all weaned when they could walk & had no patience to sit in my lap.
now this boy-child of mine, he's obsessed with his "babas", i can't get changed in front of this kid. after an initial bad start (recessed lower jaw/problems with circumcision that led to a "don't let him cry" routine [to keep him from bleeding]/combined with my only case of mastitis}we have been going at this breastfeeding thing like gang busters.
in our playgroup, there are 3 boys (mine included) still nursing after the 2 1/2 yr mark with no end in sight. at least broduderman sleeps thru the night!
it's gotta be a boy thing.
anyway, i'm glad to be back here (after having to create my 3rd user name here cause i couldn't remember the e-mail accounts i used to set up the first 2 a long time ago!).
i'll be around

Great to see one of the original crew back -- I'm sorry you can't remember your user name from back then! But I posted off and on and you may not remember me anyway.

i used my hipmama email id -- mamapajama and then for a while mamakia. i think what happened is i set those up with my old webtv addy so i can't get new passwors until i fix the account info.

i looked at your stuff last night, didn't get a chance to any reading but WAY TO GO! i'm trying to juggle mommyhood (babas & all), some work & writing to get seriously out there with my writing. but so far i still ony really get anything done after midnight!
one day

i know my old user names --- mamapajama & mamakia, just can't seem to remember the passwords & then i tried to get new ones emailed & put wrong addies, i think they were connected to now defunct addies. No biggee, i'm back & i'm me (same id & password i use almost everywhere) so now that i'm getting "older" i can at least remember something!

i did the whole love with inlaws when i only had two toddlers in order to save $$$ for a house. we lived in a seperate guest house, but it was NUTS!!! hang in if you're still doing it.

Someone to discuss the trial and tribulations of a teenaged daughter with -- yay! We do a lot of head butting too, but she's in a pretty mellow state at the moment. My son is seven years old. Just the two of them! I used to dream of a third, but I have my hands full as it is...work, school (PT at night), and family.

something else entirely! anytime you want to swap tales i'm all for it. all my mommy friends have 2-3 yr olds. i have one friend w/ a teenager but we don't have the same views on boundaries. she would be a stripper at a party for a friend of her daughter's. & think it okay, because she would tell her daughter that as long as she's in control of the situation she isn't being objectified or used. seriously!

when i was a younger mom i was sooo idealistic -- i did cloth diapies (even on a very long trip to another state with 2 in diapers!) nursed exclusively, made all their food from scratch grown organicly in our garden, i parented by zen --- they ate, slept etc by their own body clocks, we had no schedules for naps or bedtime or meals, and there were 3 of them!!!

now all my friends who are my age w/1st baby are like i was (other than the cloth - i'm still the only one i know doing that!. Co-sleeping & slings and organics are all the thing.

i still do some stuff, but i'm way mellower. this is baby #4 and i have lots more on my plate w/ teen daughters, ass ex, and no family around to lend a hand watching baby #4.

i have yet to spend a night away from him! i'm realy big on getting that step done & seperation eased into from an early age. now i have no one to leave him with for a real time off.(my teen's good, but she's not responsible enough to care for him all day & night & next morning)

thanks for the welcome, Mia is sooo cute!
