I am a homeowner. Its official, we closed yestersay, and changed the locks last night.

Crap, now I have to pack, I have one week before the movers get here!!!

An added bonus was finding out that our monthly payment is less than what we are paying for rent in the house we are in now.

So we went out today, found a fantastic little house two blocks from a great elementary school, in a good neighborhood, and we put in an offer. I can't believe it, its actually happening. For just a moment can I say that Guitar H*ro is F-ING AWESOME!!!!!! Went to my sisters yesterday, DH and BIL were playing it and I got in on the action. Yeah... it was fun with a capital F, thats what it was.

Does it ever go away? By "it", I mean the longing for a smoke. The desire to inhale an entire pack of cigarettes a day, the delicious stink of it all, the calming feeling of chain smoking... will I ever be free???

I haven't had a smoke since 11-28-2005. I still want one every every day.

WTF.... I'm the kind of girl who isn't attached to her cell phone. I misplace it, sometimes the couch eats it for a little snack, sometimes I leave it in the pocket of my pants and forget. DS, Six months old... has two bottom teeth and his two top teeth are coming in. He's taken to biting while nursing and it hurts like hell. What do I do???? Its not like I can discipline him, he doesn't want to hurt me on purpose, but damnit my nipples are killing me!

So DH brings in the mail yesterday. I got a free subscription to Cosmo because he drinks entirely too much coke, and thought he'd be nice and redeem the points on something for me. Pre-mama Sassafras would have been stoked, but now I find myself disinterested in the, "How to have super dooper sex, Wear these clothes to be super dooper sexy, Wear this makeup to have more super dooper sex". Reluctantly, I picked it up, thumbed through the pages, and stumbled upon the most hilarious giggle inducing thing ever.

Twelve years... January 11, 1995 I had a bone marrow transplant. After five years cancer free, they consider you "cured", and that was twelve years ago today.

9-17-94: Thought I had a cold. My mother a nurse, feared much worse after taking my bp and rushed me to the er. Acute Myelogenous Leukemia. Words that I had never heard before suddenly took charge of my life. Docs explained I'd been developing it all summer, and that if I didn't begin treatment right away I would die of congestive heart failure in less than two weeks. I took a chance, and a helicopter ride to San Antonio (where I was, there wasn't an oncologist in sight, let alone a blood bank). I was told upon arrival that my best bet would be three-ish months of intense chemo followed by a bone marrow transplant, provided we could find a donor. Siblings are a one in ten chance of being a match, and I only had one sister. She was a perfect match. They told me I'd still only have a forty percent chance even with the transplant... Ok, since DS was born almost six months ago I've been a little indulgent and have gained a little weight... So back to counting points. My question to you, my fellow mamas, is how do you feel about diet soda or artificially sweetened beverages when you're still nursing? Provided your baby doesn't have PKU, is it ok, does it make any difference at all, is splenda better than aspartame? I've ditched the caffeine, and will go the diet soda route without a problem, but I don't have a clue what it'll do to the little man. Thanks ladies!

Yay! This morning, DH says, "Honey, put your hand in his mouth and feel his gums." Sure enough, I felt two little sharp teeth poking out on the bottom. Wow! After months of drooling and gnawing on everything his pudgy little baby hands can grab, they're finally here.

Breast milk does clear up pink eye, just in case anyone wondered.

I caught DS trying to play video games with DH, at just 5 months... Lego Star Wars 2, and he was loving every second of it --read more >>
