About three weeks ago my sister's boss surprised her with a stinging critique that ended with an official written warning. He told her that while she could keep her job if she improved he "didn't think that was likely." To make matters worse, corporate staff were in her office this week to review all employees. On Tuesday my sister had her review.

I feel so badly for her.
My sister is a great person, smart, friendly, helpful, et all, but she's a terrible secretary - and these are the jobs she keeps getting. These are, of course, the jobs with benefits, and since she knows she's a terrible secretary she looks for the ones with the least admin she can find, but of course, it always ends up the same way.

I've never had a positive feeling about the American flag. Being raised in a liberal household, I looked at the flag as the province of conservatives. I assumed my son would grow up with the same feelings (particularly her in the ultra-liberal East Bay).
Not so.
Every time we see an American Flag my son says, "Look mama, the Obama flag." And then I explain to him that it isn't just Obama's flag, it's McCain's flag too, and George Bush's flag, and even his and my flag.
