HOT MAMAS: DAY 30 "She behaves as if she was beautiful. Most American women do. It is the secret of their charm." Oscar Wilde
are we missing our banner hilighted thread today? Isn't our friend Montagia on vacation? If so, I will start the HOT MAMA post for today here
PLUS --- how about we mention our highlights from this wonderful HOT MAMA challenge so far?
recently i had a dream in which i was shown a grove of aspens overlooking the home of a friend, i knew in the dream that he meant for me to see it as some sort of reassurance.
in the dream i was at his house for his birhday party that was being thrown after his funeral had already taken place.
i have never been to this house, nor do i know if there are any aspens in that area. when i had this dream, it was actually two days before his birthday & he had, unknown to me, just died.
i am very curious about the aspens symbolism if anyone knows anything about it.
these are from Alton Brown (my favorite chef on TV -- i would dump daddy-o for Altie quick as winkie)
i have not tried this one, but every recipe of his i've used was so perfect!!!! tell me how these work out
2 cups flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup sugar
4 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons shortening
3/4 cup cream
Handful dried currants or dried cranberries
Heat oven to 375 degrees.
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Mix well. Cut in butter and shortening. In a separate bowl, combine cream with beaten egg then add to dry ingredients. Stir in fruit. Turn dough out onto a floured surface. Roll dough out and cut into biscuit size rounds. Bake for 15 minutes or until brown
we have been potty-training for over 6 months now with great success --
oy-child will go on potties in restauarnts, at other homes & hasn't pooped in a diapie since early Jan before his 2nd bdy (he had a choice -- potty training or weaning!)
we were still using diapies when we went out and overnight, he could wake up dry in the am, but since his baba is his priority he can't be bothered to sit down to pee 1st thing, he MUST nurse
our routine has been simple --- when he gets up we remove night diapie, he nurses, he gets around to peeing before or during breakfast, he stays nakie most of teh day at home , after he does pee we've been putting on big boy undies.
so we've done stuff about our parents & we share about our kidlets, but what about a thread about how we met our other halves?
I'll start --- it's a little long & involved
i had just moved from VA to San Diego with my bf who is a school teacher, it was summer and I neeed a job, I got hired as a manager @ a Crown books in town, it was in a shopping center w/ an Einsteins Bagels
i would go in there to get breakfast since bf would sometimes drop me off too early for me to open store. i was eating really healthy at that point -- other than the bagles, and actually walking 3 miles to work & back home on days bf didn't drop me off on his way to work.
okay, i have a 2 1/2 yr old who is doingthe holding in his major poops so i have to follow his ass (literlly) & can't look this up myself right now,
so who knows how many tsp or tbs are in a package of instant yets?
not active dry -- that i have in the jar w/ label, but my instant i bought in a vaccum pack bag & store it in an air tight container AND forgot to write it down!!!!
ANY mamas in the vicinity of Petaluma who are free to go to the faremer's market, please do me a favor --
look for the Atomic Ice Cream spot and go up to the cute Chinese Daddy who's hawking his wares and say something like "Kia sent me to get a lick". Or get clever, I know you all are!
He's my best buddy, 1st boyfriend and we are in this all Organic Ice Cream company thang together (yeah, i know i'm in southern california!)
It's good ice cream and he gives away free samples @ the market. Plus we do catering!!!
